Institute of Actuaries of India-Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET)

@jasmineneha09 said:@hahathebadboy i m new 2 this thread plz koi batao acet kya h aur how can i apply...

Hi,

ACET is a test for becoming a member of Actuaries Institute of India. By becoming a member, you become eligible for the series of tests to make a career in actuarial science. It's like a mathematical/ statistical course.

Go through actuariesindia.org for mroe details and registering for ACET, next ACET would be in Nov sometime.

Does it make sense to apply for membership of both Indian and the UK institute? If yes, why?

@[590194:hahathebadboy] plz tell me the whole procedure,,,,,,,

it will be better if you refer the above link first and thenafter u can come up wit the specific queries 😃

They told me it'll take about 15 days from date of form submission to obtain your id/ password. There won't be any confirmation or acknowledgement.

Subjects I'm also thinking of same line as yours: probably CT 1,2 and 3. CT 7 syllabus is huge: their study material + an extra 1000 (or maybe a little less) pages book. But if you're familiar with the contents, you may go for it. It sounded interesting.
@Cr3O4 said: I would suggest better go for 3 paper this time too. If in between u feel it will be hard to go for 3 paper, leave any 1 paper, yes it will waste ur 5K. but think it in a way, wat if it is not so hard to crack 3 papers at once and wat if u will be able manage time for all 3, in that case you will be 1 paper ahead.
Thanks for the reply. I also thought the same, but taking 3 papers at a time will make me prepare less for two that I would have given otherwise. Let's see.

Also, in-case of not passing...the loss is not 5k as we won't need to buy study material for 2nd attempt. Only exam fees which is 2k I think. So maybe attempting 3 papers is good.

It makes sense for one case: If you can study for 5-6 papers together, you can become an actuary quickly. For Indian institute, you can apply for 3 papers in one go. Having both memberships, you can apply for 3+3 papers every time.

Arre behenji....as Cr304 put it, pehle dekh toh lijiye woh website. Registration will start on 4th Sep. You'll have to fill a form online after that date. Then you'll get a temp username/ password and study material. Study that and take the test.

If you're from engineering/ math background...it's (the entrance test) is quite easy, can be cracked with an effort of a month or even less. Else you'll have to devote some-time.

Hi guys anyone having ACET study material may please send to [email protected]

thanks hahathebadboy.....adb for the exams ur taking...and ya i no a guy named vishnu nair...in the acet discussion forum through the bpp website, he has told that he has received the membership id already....but its still not activated...so my brain is going round and round abt it....

I think some miscommunication. What I said is: If you only have India institute's membership, you can take at max 3 CT/ CA/ ST/ SA papers together, but if you take both India and UK membership. You can take 6 papers in a sitting. So you can clear all papers quickly if you can study for 6 papers all together.

There's no other benefit of taking both memberships.

How much time should one ideally take for the preparation of CT1 and CT3 course tests????

are bhai, m saying ki 3 opt karlo is tym... den try for a week or 2 .... utne me samajh aajayega ki 3 ki prep ek saath kar paoge ya nahi.... agar kar paoge toh weel n good....agar nahi toh..... kisi ek ko chor do n concentrate on 2 papers only ....... this way at most u will loose at max 14-15 days only.

Guys....I hope u all r doing well...i have a query relating to work experience....Does anyone have any idea as to when can we start working so as to gain an experience of 3 years....When can we start? Is there any specific rule regarding this? Since 3 years is quite a long time so its better if we can start at the earliest so as to complete early as well...Anyone knows regarding this?

first of all why are u stressing specifically on 3 yr work ex??? any gud reason
u can start working as soon as u get one, no constraint on that. If u can get a job even after clearing ACET, u can start by then only.
If u are considering it for Fellow Member requirement, start ur job ASAP, bcoz for being Fellow member u only need to clear 12 paper ( 8CT, 1CA, 2ST, 1SA) and if u start ur job after clearing ACET, will get 6 test windows by the time u will have 3 yr work ex. and i think that should be sufficient to clear all those tests.

waise can sombody clear my doubt that do they want core actuarial work ex or any sort of work ex will do??

Yeah, I got a statistics book which has contents quite similar to CT3. Started with that.

What about you?
