Bharath i have cleared the Generic Compre with an overall GPA above 4 and now i am in Chandigarh for my stream training, i couldn't inform u regarding this as there as no net access permission for us till today and most of the days we spent in the journey to Chandigarh and etc.,

our main stream training is going to begin from monday and i am going to have the training on java intially and then move on to oracle, it's being informed that we have to clear atleast one to avoid the termination and i am looking forward to improve my CGPA.
i am interested in knowing the information regarding the ES training and regarding the Stream training and the percentage we need to maintain and the way to approach it.

it's all going in the right direction now. i have passed both Java and Oracle with good grades.

Regarding my stream specification i had the optiion to make in between EAI and SAP and i went in with SAP, i hope the choice i have made is not wrong..............

what ever may be, can i know after my completion of my training in SAP where would i be posted to and the chances of going onsite in future and all the other stuff.

none of those questions can be answered. you will get to know where u will be posted depending on the requirement at the time of posting.

onsite opportunity is good. but i cant tell if u wld be sent onsite within a year, or after 2 years or after 3 years

See you are just out of training. These questions should not bother you like going onsite and other stuff. Just concentrate and expect to learn as much as possible as this will help you to achieve more. Onsite if comes will be a bonus.

I have a query... I have been offered by infosys, my joining is next month 17. I have 3+ years of experience in web development. But one thing which bugs me is i have 68% aggregate i.e all 8 semester of BE, SSLC i have 70%+ & also PUC 70%+ . I am worried abut this BE aggregate. All other documents that all my previous companies relive & exp letters are there with me. Can i know is that a serious issue or not

you need to know that buddy

did u tell them ur marks when u walked in for the interview? or did u fake it?

incase u have filled in ur actual marks in the form and kept things clear, then u dont need to worry about anything. moreover, when u move as a lateral, all that matters is ur work-ex and profile in the company from where u are moving. also, 68% is not that bad either

Moreover i didnt even remember while attending the interview about my marks, my mind was fully loaded with all technical questions they may ask & what i should answer & other things. So didnt find time to think about this marks issue

yes, then u need to be worried
in infy they ask for the percentage of all the 8 semesters. (Total of marks obtained in all 8 sems divided by total max marks across 8 sem)
in case thats below the cutoff for ur university, then they will ask you to leave. btw, as i said, when you are a lateral ur profile is what is given more weightage.

to be on the safer side, it better to talk to them about ur marks, rather than be troubled later on

hi everybody...i'm a newbie infoscion too and supposed to join in 2008...

@ anyone who has been recruited by infy through campus placements in recent years...

how many e-mails one receive from infy after the recruitment and when?? :sarcasm:

i'm asking this, coz though i've the hard copy of offer letter, i haven't received a single e-mail from infy till date.
the interview was on 24th mar and the offer letter was dated 11th oct. i got it from the placement officer in nov. all this time i was completely unaware of the fact that i'm supposed to get some e-mails as well from infy. when i knew it from posts, i mailed to the infy specified id assuming that my e-mail id isn't available to them. after mailing at an interval of 15-20 days thrice finally on 2nd jan i got a confirmation mail that they have updated records... phew... that means my mail id was missing from infy db till then :shock: thanks to some technical issue or some sleepy data entry operator...

point is, am i supposed to get the doj mail only or some other mails as well in between i.e after 2nd jan?? :sarcasm:

@ any infoscion willing to help...

1. are core engg/higher math fundae/skills required in infy or for that matter in IT industry?

2. are annual leave of 15 days alotted at a stretch or in small chunks?

3. do they have a health checkup on joining? what do they check for in it?

4. are cycling and driving license must for joining infy?
i wonder why they ask for driving license at offer letter... nothing about it was mentioned during placement talks...surely infy won't provide a car...
and cycling... well, they not even asked for it... i knew about it from posts...are distances in mysore campus too much to walk? :huh:

You receive 2-3 emails just before joining.....1st one will reconfirm ur salary structure...second one will give ur staying campus etc....and maybe a third one as well.....

1...no core engg fundae reqd....only logic will work...
2...take leave as u want to....15 days....oh! yes...if u have that many in ur account
3... no health checkup...
4...driving license.....they just ask for it but they dont check it....but passport is a must....first, they want to establish that u r an indian citizen and it helps in ur fast onsite opportunities approval....

Nope. if u are a computer graduate, then u cld use ur core logic

its allotted in quarterly basis. 4 days per quarter, and then 3 days for the last quarter

Dude he was making fun of the cycling thing, the campus is too big, u have no other option but cycle.
And leave yes, leaves are awarded according to the criteria mentioned by, but they get accumulated if u dont use them, so u can use them at strech. In medical situation/emergency, suppose u want leave for a month, u can go for 'loss of pay leave'. Obviously, as the name suggest u wont be paid.

nope, u cant take ur 15 days at a stretch. what most ppl do, is that they collect all their leaves and then take it at once. but at the start of ur career, when u will have just 3 leaves, u can take the entire 15 days. in case u are sick, then u can take leave. medical emergency cant be penalized.

I've heard that laptops/usb drives/cd/dvd all are banned at mysore campus.

Is ipod/ high end cellphones having memory and camera banned too?

Are those banned in all infy campuses or at mysore only??

Are they banned only in training centre or even in hostel rooms?

May I carry few cds and my pen drive? I think there shouldn't be any problem unless I use them on infy comps! Will it be ok?

u can take music CD's, ipod's inside by declaring them with the security. no issues with that. cellphones can be taken without a problem.

once u have declared it, u can take anywhere, other than GEC

infy campuses have common policy abt this and henec no discrimination based on campuses. And they are banned in whole infy campus (so included, training centre or even in hostel rooms)

*May I carry few cds and my pen drive? ....sure u can,i did, 1 pen drive 2gb, 1 harddisk 160 gb(and i copied movies from the infy training center comp too), and 1 case containing 20-25 cds.....but obviously u shall hide it somewhere...i was trained in esa academy in hyderabad....so mysore campus...i heard they are a lil strict...

don groan...but infy really sucks...its the mediocr-est of the mediocre company...don ever join it...the work is substandard..meant for call centre ppl...if u have any ambition in life...its the last place to go into...
ITS HYPOCRICY all over...

m fighting to get a work ex certi for weeks...they have even banned all outside mails...dunno hw to survuive here...ask any sw engg if m wrong...this Co. is for BSc grads....
