I think you won't mind if I answer your query :-P.
You can go to GD/PI in Bangalore on Weekends. This is possible even in training. So no problems. In case you have an exam on Monday, then you have to finish the studying before weekend and attend the GD/PI on weekend.

i have almost 1.4 yrs exp in Infy...
I wld say go for infy only if ur least bothered abt ur IT career..
U will be trained for 1 or 2 technologies (arnd 4-6 months !), then indefinite bench period (which can go upto 1 yr as in case of one of my friend !!!).. then u will be put into random project ...
Let me stress on the pt tht being a 5 pointer has no advantage in getting a project sooner than others..
Forget abt jumping to another company .. cos u wont evn have substantial wrk exp 2 flaunt ..
I have seen people get frustrated n stuck here for yrs cos they cant goto other companies due to lack of proper exp to quote.. n landup giving MBA entrances...true story !

If you have friends in Accenture,Wipro or TCs...they will tell you the same tale...
I would also say that lucks matters...some people get very good projects and get an onsite soon....some are on bench....but you cannot know for sure before joining the company...

I got placed at Infy and am supposed to join the training at mysore campus on 24th jan.I had taken a few MBA entrances and have interview calls from 2 good colleges and the interviews are between 5th and 11th Feb.I have heard that one can get a max of 3 days off during training period..but to attend 2 interviews i would need atleast 5 or 6 days i.e maybe the entire week from 5 to 11th feb..i have contacted the helpline but i was told that it depends on your batch owner..But i wanna be sure before goin so that i dont get stuck up there and miss the interviews..pls reply about what should i do?..leave infosys or is their a way out to get a leave for a week?..i need this info urgently!

If you have got calls from top notch MBA institutes , then fly buddy .. go for the GDs/PI . I can tell you from experience Infy training in mysore is an unforgettable experience . besides , if you do an MBA with 1/2+ years of job ex , you will eligible for lateral placements , in other words , at senior level managerial positions .

What are the days on which you have GDPI? They should ideally be on Sundays...
If you have choosen Bangalore, and even if its a weekday,you can leave in the evening and return the next evening...that would require just a one day leave...and for 1 day you can just leave....come back and apply for leave...batch owners are nothing but 1 yr seniors...you can make them understand.....(not always though...but most of the times)..
And as the person above said, its a lifetime experience which cannot be felt anywhere else in the world!!
Guys I have almost the same dilemma as Parry. I have Infosys joinin in Mysore on 7th feb. And I also m waiting for my joinin date frm TCS which shud ideally be arnd feb end/march mid( my best guess, as most of the other ppl placed arnd the same dates have either gotten their joinin for jan, or feb while many like me are waiting)
Now I scored a 94.84%ile in CAT n have filld up coll like TAPMI, IMT Ghz, K J, BIM, IIT M,IFMR, n have MICAT on 20th feb. All my gd/pi/test centres are in Delhi (dont ask me why, I have no idea why I did that) If I join Infy, I may miss all my interviews, if I get the call. If I dont, m worried abt whether TCS wud actually end up callin me or not. And if that happns n I either dnt get calls, or dont convert thm, I'll b left with nuthin.
So wat wud u suggest, shud I go for Infy, give up on interviews, or wait fr TCS, give up Infy, n thn give the interviews if thy fall before march. I knw its a lot of 'ifs' but m really confused.
PS: Can we ask Infy to postpone my joinin date by a month( if we can, can anyone pass me the no of a concernd HR, thre's no contact no mentiond in the offer email), I have heard tht if u ask thm to do it, they delay the date by atleast 6 months, is it true? Cos I dnt want tht.

..i called up infys helpline which was given at the end of the accomodation mail that infy had sent us..n thay told me that extension of training is not possible at all..also when i asked if i can get a minimum of 7 days off,she told me that depends on your batch owner and HR..but at max 4 leaves are considered...i am planning to not join infy because leaves n then managing interviews from there at mysore would be very hectic..but then that IF I DONT CLEAR TH INTERVIEWS question always remains..so after a lot of brainstorming..i reached this decision...i know its a tough one to make..been through it..but try to prioritize stuff n also weigh ur chances..i have no IIMs calling me but have 2 good ones..which i donot wanna miss at any cost...good luck!:cheerio:

TCS honors its committment...i havent heard about TCS not giving joining (it may be late)...
so you can plan to join TCS later...

i would suggest you to get your name changed on your marksheets from your concerned university.... one of my friend had the same problem, she did so... (i think she must have been provided new marksheets for that)
but it will take apprx six months....i called infy they said letter from clg will be suffecient. will infy give me that much time to change my name.

As communicated by Infy, just bring the letter from your college. If anything more is required, you can do those formalities after joining training. If you have Passport/Pan Card etc where 'T' is not there, then those can be shown as proof.
Anyways, I hope, just that change in name won't affect anything unless you are particular about that. All in all, you can have your name without 'T' as long as you are in Infy. So no probs.

Hi Vaibhav,
I don't think there is a specific time after which Infy sends out selection letters as far as I know. But be assured that, if you are selected , Infy will definitely provide you the joining details, unless you have provided wrong details during the form filling.
