IIMI [2008-2010] Final Results Out

Hi,
A laptop is not necessary. You can use your desktop also...But it s defnitely beneficial to have a laptop while doing the assignments, project work etc...
Not having a laptop puts constraints on you whn you require it the most...e.g... Laptops are really essential whn some important softwares like SPSS etc are being taught by the faculty...
I would suggest you to get a laptop in case ur desktop is not a brand new which you have just bought... 😛 ... Rest...Depends on your decision...

Hi puys

A question which has been asked here a lot of times but I couldn't find the answer...

I'm waitlisted at 159. What are my chances of making it? I personally feel it's a lost cause, but people are asking me to hold on.

Another question: Is a laptop really necessary? I have my desktop and am planning to take it with me wherever I land up (Have a confirmed call from MDI so am definitely going to land up somewhere)

I got the soft copy of the letters.

Might be of use to somebody

Hope this is useful to all waitlisters (me one too!)
According to a friend of mine in IIM Indore PGP 2007-09 batch, 400 final calls have been given to people who dont have calls from IIMs ABC...

You should quote the source else this kind of information isn't worth. I mean, unless your friend or his sources work in "those" levels of IIM I office, its tough to find out which other calls did their final call getters have. Moreover, 400 sounds a very vague figure.

:p

Dude, as I mentioned the source is a friend of mine from IIM Indore PGP batch 2007-09..How is his name or contact address(if that is what u meant by "source"! :p) relevent to u...moreover the figure 400 is quite in line with the trend last yr..nyways, i thought it mite be of sum help fr sum of the fellow puys...its on u to decide whether it is of sum help or it..i cant help u on tht matter...

i was going trough some threads and news articles, and did some calculations as to the no. of final calls that may have been given
total no. of ppl called in gd/pi = 1247
max w/l (that i saw a person in pg) = 288
a few people did not get even waitlised + few ppl did not even attend gd/pi(happened in my batch) = x

after going through last years thread , iimi gave a total of 680(final converts)+400(w/) = 1080 confirmed and w/l calls

assuming x = 100..
assuming w/l to be till around 300

total gd/pi calls (1247) - total w/l (300) - x (100) = confirmed calls given by iimi(847)

last year for 180 seats they gave 680 calls + 50(w/l) = 730 ..this year 240 seats so extrapolating 240 seats would fetch 973 seats

so according to my calculations ..this year waitlist no. 126 should be able to clear

yes, it is true that last year the w/l went upto only 50... but year before that it went upto 170...fingers crossed :detective:

It indeed is vague and I am sure there must be some miscommunication here. First of all they would not have prepared such a list and even if they have they will not communicate the same to any body of us. I would reiterate that there is no point speculating the waitlist movement unless anybody of us has a clear idea on number of final calls given.

Appropriately put Jalan!
@maniac:
I think you should refrain from such posts due to a couple of reasons...
IIMs dont give final calls looking at the admit lists of other IIMs so you can never say how many final calls were given to people without ABC calls..

secondly, the number of final calls will be like no other previous year cause the batch is 240 strong and the first time this number is being admitted. I suggest puys here dont speculate but keep their fingers crossed.

I think the above might not be exactly true.
this is what IIM B website says about the offers
"
Table One gives the CAT Test Registration Number of the 300 candidates who have been made an
admission offer to the Post Graduate Program in Management for the batch of 2008-10 at the Indian
Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) for the 251 seats available in the General, SC, ST and PWD
categories. The numbers of offers made in each category are: 214 in general category (including all OBC
candidates who qualified in the general merit list), 53 in SC category, 24 in ST category and 9 in PWD
category. The 49 extra offers covers for 137 of these candidates who have an offer from another IIM.
"

So I think they estimate the number of calls are estimated based on what other offers a candidate has.

Dude,

This is one interesting piece of speculation. I mean your friend must be really well connected to be able to extract such precise information. It might be the case that the institute does look at the candidate's other calls but I am not sure such information would be revealed to anyone (your friend included). So please be doubly sure next time you post any such seemingly sensitive info here.

Congos to the call getters and ...WL'ers...ATB!!

Hey Puys...

Don't panic due to such information as No. of Wait-listers, No of offers etc. Last year also we had such info leak ... everyone was panic... but it turned out to be false...

@sathanbabu

IIMB has a tradition of giving out the details related to such things ... They are the only one that provides detailed information about the criteria for giving calls for GD/PI ... They provide information about the final offers ... but then they publish it ... Not all IIMs do it ...

waitlist numbers now available on website.

thot this information mite be helpful.

As you've admitted that it is useless to ask the question coz at this stage we can only speculate. But honestly speaking #35 gives you a very good chance of making it.

Chalo then ATB!!

Can i get a edu loan for the amount of Rs 67,400/- to be paid on 30 June or is it to be paid from my pocket. ppl say to avail the loan once u reach the campus but i dunno how to pay the amount at registration when u land up at the place only a day earlier.
puys what plans u have to pay the registration amt?????

Hey devvishnu,

Don't worry... from the beginning of Preparatory course, whenever you come to campus... you will find Bank guys available to lend you money...

Currently just think about the DD you need to submit before 19th May... and this money can also be converted to education loan, once you reach the campus... if you want, which bank people will refund...

So just don't worry...

As of now, get a DD along with you. You can claim back the required amount as a loan.
