Hi priyanka,
You have taken a very good intiative.
I am an MBA aspirant and wanna apply for the executive programs offered by the IIM's.
I have applied for IIMA's PGPEX and planning to apply for the IIMC PGPEX
Now the issue is i will have only 5 years of work experience by April 2009.
With the kind of profiles and experience that applicants apply for IIM's each year do u think i should apply even if not having the min work experience?
I am a Design engineer (Automotive Sector) with a score pf 690 in GMAT and very good extra curriculars and decent acads.I am a pass out from NIT.
If possible can you suggest any other 1 year programs or the other IIM's in which if i apply i would have a fair chance of atleast getting an interview call.
Honest answers are expected from you Priyanka.
Cheers.
if u dont ve the adequate work ex, then there might not be any benefit even if u apply..
profiles r very diverse, we've people from navy, journalism, govt run psus etc..if u r from IT, then it makes getting into a bit difficult.
ur profile looks fine..i want to stress that its not only the profile, its actually the entire package(essays, quality of work ex, personal interview) that matters.
another course is iiml one yr program..u might want to check their site..
best of luc in applying!!

Thanks a lot for such a quick reply,
i will be falling 1month short of the 5 years of minimum work experince as mentioned in the website, can i still apply or is it a waste of applying as u said without fulfilling the criteria.
To make it clear, i am not in to IT , i am into Design of Automobiles(engineering services) and currently in UK working for NISSAN motors and will be here till dec2008 having a total international experience of 2 years and 4 months
One more thing is i dont have any managerial experience as of now. Will that also matter in the selection process.
If you make these things clear i can make a decision on this very quickly and look forward for other colleges like IIML,IIMidr and ISB
cheers
i think even one day short is short, better write an email to the admission office and get a confirmation..
in some jobs, there might not be any managerial related exp- that is just fine..remember leadership is diferent from management..
ur profile looks different and hence wud be a +ve 4 u.
i didn't notice that there is another similar thread- "IIM Calcutta PGPEX III : Admission process and beyond...", i'll be updating that..pls post ur queries there..
Hi Priyank,
Please provide yr inputs on EXECUTIVE PROGRAM IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
(EPBM - 11) from IIM Calcutta?
Its a certificate one year PG Certificate program conducted through HughesNet
Please provide more info about its usefulness and recognition.
And how different it really is from a distance MBA?
HughesNet Global Education - Management Programs from premier B-Schools >> Post Graduate programs >>Global Education
see it depends abt wt u r looking 4 from the course...any part-time program will be less recognised as compared to a full-time one but there r both +ve,-ves of any programs...
in my opinion, distance mba doesn't really make sense...mba is not like any other education where u've to learn from books..here u learn a lot from discussions among fellow students..
let me know anything specific that u might like to know...

Hello,
I'm interested in the PGPEx program. The website FAQ section states, "Yes, please obtain the signatures of the referees across the flaps of the envelope containing the Letter of Recommendation."
My question - My referee is a client manager who lives in Delaware, US. I am expecting her to send an email directly to the admissions office. Do I need to ask her to mail me an envelope with the letter all the way from US? Kindly confirm. Thanks.
hi Priyank,
Is there any template for the recommendation letter as well as for SOP? If so,Pls share that.
Hello, i am an IIMC PGPEX 2015-16 aspirant. I have 6 years of work experience in power industry. My acads are: 10th (CBSE) : 80.8%, 12th(CBSE) : 79.2%, B.tech(NIT): 8.5 GPA. I will be writing my GMAT on 24th July. What minimum score should i target? Moreover, i have also started with writing application. Pls. help me understand what exactly IIM selectors look in for in an SoP & recommendation. What things to be highlighted. That will help a lot. Thanks.
Hi,
Can someone tell me how the recommendation needs to be sent to the IIMC?I read in the IIMC FAQ page that it needs to be in the form of a hard copy. But my referee is in US.in such cases can the recommendation be directly sent to IIMC through email?
Hi,
I have recently written Gmat but my performance was dismally low at 650. I have 8 years of IT experience with 75% throughout academics.
Please suggest how my chances are getting into IIM C.
Thanks.

Hi Guys, I need your expert advice. Took my GMAT yesterday after 1 month of preparation, and got disappointing 680 (Q50 V31). But, is it ? I have already taken GMAT twice before, in 2008 with 700 and then again in last year with meager 600. I would have been much happier if I had touched 700 this time. but that's life.
Anyway, my query is whether I should apply in Indian B schools such as IIM C? or my GMAT score is too low to even get considered. Should I rather concentrate on European b school. I want to join 1 years executive course.
My brief profile: 1. 10 years of work experience in Indian IT Service company, current role - Team Lead
2. 6 years of international experience
3. German as an additional language
4. X - 89%, XII - 88%, topper in college, not much extra cal.
Please advise. Thank you !
