the companies we had in the finance domain included Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Citigroup, ABN Amro Bank, Bank of America, Avendus Advisors, Standard Chartered Bank, GE,ICICI Bank, Kotak etc. besides these, we had McKinsey & Co., BCG, Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young offering consult profiles.
well, as far as the chances about whether foreign i-banks will be coming to IIML - i aint no soothsayer
. tho, we did have hsbc london giving a PPO this year for finals and jp morgan london coming for summers.Regards,
Brendan

yes, you normally need to write an application and get it approved by Mr. Dinesh Saxena who is in charge of student affairs. what u could do is inform him via email at [email protected]. so that a room could be reserved for your parents.

Hi,
I just received the official letter for the PGP course. I intend to send the DD(demand draft) along with the acceptance letter by post. How can one verify that IIM L has received the DD and confirmed the admission? Will the IIM L admisssions office send an email or an acknowledgement by post regarding the same??
I hope some of the seniors can help us over here...

You can call up the admissions office at (0522) 2734028 / 2736681 / 2736682 and enquire whether they have received your DD or not. I don't quite remember, but i don't think any acknowledgement was sent by them last year.

Hi everyone!!!
Well I have made it and am raring to come to Lucknow,,as soon as i finish my engg...Heres my profile...
Name: Dhaval Ponda.
Location:Mumbai...
Xth : 90.4 %.
XIIth : 94.0%.
CAT :98.78 (DI: 96 MAth:96 Verbal:97)
Right now studying in final year Electronics Engg. at V.J.T.I., Mumbai.
Well I love to swim(sad about the pool though),,play volley-ball, squash and cricket. I also love flying kites and listening to music.
Its great to see our seniors so enthu about solving our queries. Here are some of my queries and any gyan on these would be great:
1. What does the campus life normally consist of?
2. What about placement for freshers , is there much difference and what was the highest salary for a fresher?
3. When are fresher parties held?
Well see you all soon at IIM L....
P.S. anyone from mumbai going to Lucknow for sure...pls mail me at [email protected]

2. What about placement for freshers , is there much difference and what was the highest salary for a fresher?
3. When are fresher parties held?
1. To put it in one word, campus life consists of 'everything'. You'll have classes, group meetings, sports (ranging from football to tennis), events like parichay (the freshers talent night), manfest, index, tansen (intra IIML cultural festival), sikander (the inter-hostel sports tourney), e-sikander (the inter hostel computer gaming tourney), movies, gaming, guest lectures, the euro cul night, celebrating festivals like diwali and holi together with batchmates, nightouts on the days before project deadlines, parties (insti parties, hostel parties, b'day parties, section parties, committee parties, booze sessions in rooms
) and in between all this, a bit of sleep as well if required
. mike or abhishek can feel free to include anything i've missed
2. as far as summer's go, there's not much difference in placements between freshers or work-ex guys. for finals, apart from laterals, i dont quite know the extent to which work-ex plays a role in short-lists and final offers
3. the freshers parties will be held once the student council gets hold of the final list of students joining. last year they were held in the last week of may.
Ciao,
Brendan
Companies usually dont differentiate between people without work ex and people with work ex. Its more of a topic of discussion during the interview round. So, if ur a fresher with a good overall profile, you'll stand a good chance. If you're a guy with work ex who can show the panelists that the work ex has helped you which in turn will help the company.... then ur in business.
Highest salary.... well... if Im not wrong, atleast 1 of the Mckinsey guys is a fresher... so that translates into 14L .
Cheers

U got that wrong Kejri.....it was 11L for the freshers and 14L for the guys with work-ex.
But dont worry guys ...such distinctions are generally not made by most of the companies except during laterals in final placements......for which 20 months experience is mandatory (may extend to 22 months for some comapanies).
By the way....I am Jassi a PGP 2 currently doing my summers at Delhi. Heres extending a very warm welcome to all u guys slated to join IIM L. Keep posting ur querries.
Jassi
:)
Hey Jassi and other Seniors,
As mentioned by Jassi in the previous post the experience for laterals may extend to 22 months for some companies!! Now I am planning to leave my job next month 15 May till which I will be having a work ex of 21 months 5 days...Your post puts me in dilemna "Do I relax for 1 month before the grill at IIML" or "Take no chances by working till June 10th and having 22 months of wor-ex".
Jassi and others eniors can you give some concrete info regarding the same. Who are these "SOME" companies which require 22 months. Or it is the quantity or quality of work-ex that matters? Whether I will squeeze in even for the companies with 22 months work-ex as criteria as have been with Infosys and Sapient...
I would appreciate if seniors would help me decide on this as I got to give my resignation letter.
TIA,
Cheers,
Deepak M.
hi deepak,
AFAIK, the requirement for most companies for laterals is 20 months...as jassi said, it might be 22 months but only for one or two companies at the max. its quite difficult to actually recall which company asked for 22 months workex...
the quality of workex would matter in the interviews most probably.......btw, IT companies dominate during laterals although thr r companies from other domains too..so u must be having workex relevant to them....
but do make sure that u have 20 months at least coz that surely is a prerequisite for laterals...
cheers
