Hey batchmates/seniors,
I want to know the work-ex required for lateral placements. Read it on IIML website its 20 months but some companies may require more!
Now I have 21 months of work-ex and I am planning to leave my job soon. Is this 20 month work-ex hold gud for most/all companies...Any experiences wid any particular companies demanding 22 instead of 20 mnths in previous years...like i read IIMB has this 22 month cap...

20 months are absolutely necessary for laterals, make sure u have that by confirming the date on ur appointmnet letter.....tho i m not sure(as i m a fresher
), some companies looked for 22 months also...mike,brendan, bothra......any info guyz??????
abhishekjain Saysya...insti provides u all the books and other reading material u will need....but u will need to spend ur own money on printouts and xeroxes.....scanners are avalable in comp center......

2) what abt mess expenses...are they included in the fees that we pay or excluded. if excluded, what cud be the avg, monthly mess expenses?

everybody gets a room to do their own things
...u will be provided with a bed, mattress, fan(of course yaar ), table with racks, chair...... u can get compu table and desert cooler by paying extra....ravi_007 Says2) what abt mess expenses...are they included in the fees that we pay or excluded. if excluded, what cud be the avg, monthly mess expenses?
u will get monthly mess bills....these r NOT included in ur fees....tho it depends on wether u r veg or non-veg, u may assumme around 1400 bucks as ur mess bill.....

As far as my limited knowledge is concerned...
One student per room .... Chair , table , bed , fan -provided (no bedding)
What say seniors???
My Q's - Seniors -How much exactly was ur term fees???
and how are we reqd to pay it..mode of payment???

As far as the laterals are concerned, most companies ask for 20 months. There were I guess only 3-4 companies that insisted on 22 months or more. So I presume that with 22 months ur eligible for all companies. Even with 20 u'll be plain unlucky to miss out a company you want.

Well, initially most of us arrived with a bank draft. People usually pay with local cheques from 2nd term onwards.(UTI and SBI/Central Bank... cant remember the 2nd bank). But dont worry too much about that. The insti will let you know well in advance.

can the seniors tell as to when exactly the regular classes start for our batch? I want to know the exact date. will i know this if i call the academic office of IIML?

Guys I came to know from one of my senior that IIML will send you some booklets to study before we join the institute.....
so when do we get them.....
this gives me a feeling that the (H)eLL experience may start even before last week of June...but hey I am happy to enter this Hell......
Also what is the examination pattern followed in IIML...do we test every now and then like B or do we have Mid term and them Semesters......Seniors...please enlighten

Don't know the exact figures, but the ratio is around 75% engineers, 15% Bcom, and 10% others.

Brendan mentioned the approx ratio in our batch, but these figures change from year to year........

1. u will get forms from the bank and then the guarantor has to sign the forms.....so as fas as i remember, u will need his/her photos(2-3 i think) and the latest salary slip.....dont worry...u will have enough time to complete all formalities....banks are not in any hurry to let u go away

.....as mentioned earlier in the thread, it may start from 1-2 week of june......4. Rooms are allotted by lottery system...u get to pick a chit as soon as u reach the campus and go to Student Affairs Cell....
5.In our times, they posted offer letters b4 putting out results(which came in may) as everything was running behind the schedule due to leaked CAT .....so, chill dude...is baar to sab sahi chal raha hai......aa jaayega offer letter...itni bhi kya jaldi hai...bahut time hai abhi

also i think that some of the council members (and a few others too), will soon join the yahoo group you have started to give you necessary gyans(thats wat happened last yr if i remember correctly).so join that grp soon.

well, as mike pointed out, you dont need to pay your fees before the remedial course. there is a common registration for all students. (should be somewhere in the last week of june)
as i mentioned earlier, last years rems started on the 17th of june. they'll go on for 2 weeks and there'll be a test at the end of it
. but believe me, u dont need to study for those tests as i dont even think the papers were corrected. in fact a few of us had made a trip down to almora for a few days and returned just the day before the test so dont worry, coz the rems are the chillest time u'll have on campus in the next 2 years Ciao,
