1) can the seniors tell as to when the first term fees has to be paid (tentatively)?
2) Also is it possible to take a student loan from one of the banks like Central Bank of India after coming to the campus and pay the fees from the loan sanctioned by the bank?
It would be really appreciating if some person who has actually done this way last time reply as to what cud be the formalities of loan processing....

thanking you in anticipation,

regards,
ravi.

first term fees will have to be paid on the day of registration......this, i think, should be after last week of june......

yeah...u can easily take the loan after coming here.....i think all of us, who have taken the loan, have taken it after coming to L only.......u dont have to bother about paperwork and also, u dont have to go anywhere near banks.......

here, Punjab National bank officials come to the campus (every week even after u have taken the loan) and so, all of us has takent he loan from PNB....but this yr, u may also have SBI pitching for ur attention............

the banks repay the first term fees to u as soon as u give them the loan application.....i can tell u about PNB....they offer loan at 10% up to a limit of 4 lacs......in addition to the term fees,, if u wish, u can also get upto 5000 buckseach month for mess bill and personal expenses....u will also need a guarantor with a fixed/assured salary.....

hope this answers ur query...

cheers

Thanks a lot for the info Abhishek. I have a couple of more doubts. hope u wud clarify them.
1) U said i need an assured salaried person to act as a guarantor. So do u mean that i will have to have a central govt. employee as a guarantor or will a private sector employee do as well...i want to know this because my father is working in the private sector.

2) Normally a lot of bank loans are sanctioned after showing collateral. From ur words i understand that no collateral is required (
3) Also can i pay the fees after geting it sanctioned from the bank.? will enuf time be given for that?

Regards.

Hi fellow HELL mates!!!

Let us make sure that we are one HELL of a rocking batch at IIM L. It shall be great if you guys/gals can post your plans - not just academic, but also extra-curricular and others. We can decide on common hobbies and interests that we wish to pursue when we reach IIM L.

Let me start the process ....

I am very interested in table tennis, NFS, AoM (not quake though) and the stock market. So, I look forward to a computer gamers club where all comp game enthusiasts join in and kick ass. All those interested, please post your preferences.

I have one more query ....... I would like to know whether there are any weekly or fortnightly parties as are there in B? Sort of a party creature myself !!

no collateral is required up to 4 lacs, but see......being ur guarantor, that person is liable to be sued....

nope...u will be submitting ur fees at the start itself......but u can get back that much amount as soon as u sign up for the loan......that means with a week or two....but ravi, if u r coming for remedial classes, then u will have time to arrange the loan before u need the fees.....

these bits of info are on my personal experience with PNB only...i cant vouch for other banks
cheers

hey thanks once again man...i really appreciate ur efforts. Another query on ur way..just to keep u busy ....
1) are we supposed to buy all the books or will they be supplied..if i am not wrong..the institute provides them all?
2) also xerox, print outs, scanners - do we have to spend money on these or will they be provided?
( am assuming that all the money is charged as part of fees. so no additional expenses...except personal expenses of course)

Regards
Ravi.
