And also which specialisation is IIML well-known for (coz I have heard of marketing)?
Also, what is the fresher to work-ex ratio and which are the mass recruiters at IIM L for summers as well as finals?
What are the day zero jobs and internships and can people without the IIT/CA tag aim for those?
And on a lighter note, what is the female-to-male ratio π ?
Thanks in advance again ....
Well, i'll answer question 2(B) with a typical MBA answer - "It depends". but generally speaking most students manage about 5 hours of sleep on normal days - or should i call them abnormal days (when there r no submission deadlines, quizzes or exams). on days when submissions are due, be prepared for night outs and fighting bouts of sleep during lectures .
There's no such thing that IIML is well known for marketing and not for other streams. in fact, in the second year, we have more electives in finance than in marketing. also we get a good number of companies recruiting for marketing, finance and systems. so there's no need to worry on that front.
day zero for finals had McKinsey and BCG, while for summers we had JP Morgan, London. the big consult firms look for a good academic record and the overall profile of the candidate. (this years recruits were from IIT, BITS Pilani and a Chartered Accountant)
well, unfortunately the female-male ratio is highly skewed. (our batch has 48 girls in a batch of 290 students). however, looking at the bright side, it was a 200% increase from the previous batch which just had 16 girls. hope this trend continues .
I am a swimmer and it would be great if we could have a swim in the hot weather of Lucknow. So would like to know whether there is a swimming pool on campus.
What are the clubs in IIML? (like there are the bad bikers club and the music club in IIMA - info from the IIMA thread for batch of 2007) I would esp. like to know whether there is a comp gamers club - for games like AoM, NFS (esp UG), Quake etc. Any other club info would also be great.
Also, is the campus wifi enabled so that we need to get laptops to be carried to the classes? Or would a desktop be good enough?
80% attendance..... Can we have proxy π as we had in our engg colleges? And what can be the penalty for getting caught (though we have attained a very high level in the art of proxy, we might still get caught π )?
Frnzzz...good to see somany of you posting on the thread........waiting to meet al you guys at the meet..in the mean time if people form NCR wud like to contact me...PM me ....wud lke to meet know all people form in and around delhi... Amit

2. Are their any means-based financial aid/scholarship to the students in need?

I bet, you are gopin to remember the remedials as the most fun-filled times spent in L. So once again, I would suggest all to be part of the fun, 2-3 weeks before the grind as it offers the best opportunity to make friends, know your seniors, adjust to the system, live life without any woreies , ie TOTAl MASTI. Im sure those who attended the rems will vouch for the same. Can seniors please tell what kinda discounts can be expected on laptops...Like if it's say 500-1000 for a 50k laptop think can buy it frm delhi itself(i stay in delhi n cant wait!@!)...and another thing regarding discounts on PC/laptops once i get a IIML call letter can't I show that to get the best price from Delhi itself...like are there some specific vendors(Compaq, HP,Zenith etc) which have an tie-up or watever wid IIML, so it might not matter whether i buy the same frm Luck or Delhi?
TIA and eagerly waiting for meeting all of u!! Cheers, Deepak M.

@MvB ACM No9 : 10th June - Is this the date for the start of regular classes, or the optional course on maths and computers??
well guyz, it is only a estimate, based on last yr's experience, that ur remedial classes will start on 10th june.......... i think mike confused this date..........it is the day when we pgp2s will be back in campus

No, IIML does not have a swimming pool and so you would need to find some other ways to beat the heat ( maybe study in the airconditioned library ) however, the other sporting facilities are pretty good. the sporting facilities include tennis, volleyball, badminton, football, cricket, basketball, table tennis and pool. all sporting equipment are provided by the student council.
apart from the committees and special interest groups on campus, we dont have any formal clubs like the ones tht u have mentioned. however, students are free to form clubs on their own initiative. in fact we have a committee called abhivyakti which provides support and helps to formalize these activities. i am sure you would find an adequate number of like-minded individuals for any activity, so go ahead and take the initiative.
no, the campus is not wifi-enabled and you dont need to bring your laptops to class. so a desktop should do just fine.
well, proxies become a little difficult since each student has a fixed seat allocated to him/her and the professor has a chart of the seating arrangement with the snaps of each student. however from term 2 onwards most students dont follow the seating arrangement (depends on the prof though). given this, go ahead and make ur choice - "Be a man, do the right thing"
Are their any means-based financial aid/scholarship to the students in need?
Shashi
well shashi....the need based scholarship was given to some 50+ students in our batch(sorry yaar, i dont remeber the exact no)....the docs u will require include salary slips(if any), ur parents' IT slips, a form(u will get them from L) listing the assets of ur parents etc etc......i think the condition for availing this schol was 2 lacs/annum........anyway, dont worry, u will get enuf time to arrange those docs from ur home.....
sorry dude...cable connection are not there in each room.........but u can have them by paying some dough to the cablewallah......
just to add on to what abhishek has said, the cablewallah currently charges Rs.150/month for a cable connection in the room.

well, last year the remedial classes began on the 17th of June, while the induction for the entire batch was from the 1st to the 3rd of july. regular classes started on the 5th of july.
