Does anyone know the no. of final offers given this year by IIM-I ? I have heard a lot of buffer calls being given which makes it difficult for waitlisters....
My waitlist no. is 147 and professors at many coaching classes feel that I have an outside chance of making it..... given the increase in seats across the IIMs....
What do u guys feel ?

called up IIM I admissions office and asked about the waitlist movement. he said "please call after 3 pm"
guess we'll have to wait a little more.
IIMI is supposed to put up the movement in waitlist today.

My bro was waitlisted WL 15 at IIM I. Though we had mentioned OBC category in the CAT application, the supreme court ruling has excluded as creamy layer. For info, he has got a provisional admit from IIM Kozhi, asking to join if belonging to OBC non-creamy layer.
We were under the impression that the WL 15 was general category but just came to know that it is the OBC waiting list and now WL 8.
Well, I am not sure what it means. Does this mean he doesnt figure in the general list ? or does that mean, if he hadnt selected the OBC category in the CAT appln form (there was no issue of creamy-layer then) there was a chance in the general category? i.e does applying to OBC category exclude one from general category?

there is no waitlist movement bcoz every inst gvs buffer calls in advance..fr a batch of 240 therer are generally 303 calls given
Guys...i'm waitlisted at 168 for IIM indore and currently waitlisted at 67 for MDI....hopefully i'll get thru at MDI...but why isn't there any movement for the general category for IIM-I?? even the website says that " this is the status as of 1st may", they cud've atleast updated the date!! And i'm sure there must be atleast a few guys with calls from IIM-A,B,C and I who'll probably prefer A,B,C to Indore, thus, there has to be some movement of the waiting list!

The answer to your question is answered in the post above you.
Anyway, this is because all the B-Schools ( including IIM-I ) gives buffer calls in advance itself, so that there waitlist movement is the least.
Every school tries to keep ther waitlist movement to the least ( because that gives its status ). Imagine in one school the waitlist movement of 500 and in one school watlist mvement of 100. To an outsider he will think that the school having the waitlist movement of 100 is good as there are less number of students who leave that school than the school with the waitlist movement of 500.
