I can tell you how the guy whose names starts with A can be at 39.. one reason could be that they arranged the list in the alphabetical order of email addresses.. My name is Amit but email is theamitgoyal.. so I got a number in the thirties..

Hi, it is to remind once again that 120 is permitted no. of seats while 100 is the one that insti fills in from amongst top 190 or so.

The seats are filled up beyond 100 if someone has taken admission and later got it cancelled

in last two batches the no of students taking admission ( whether leaving or not before date of joining) remained at 103 ( seems its a lucky no. for someone in admin??????????)

My guess abt the no. qouted on the letter on WL is as good as that of anyone else.

A suggestion here: for PPL having lower no on their WL letters assume it to be waitlist no and be optimistic

for guys with no very low in order can imagine of no. being given based on alphabatical order/ in order of exam roll no/ in order of appln form no

the message: be optimistic and hope for best

just back from iift after having a chat with an officer in the admission office. Inquired with him about the magical figure of 103 final calls. this is wht he replied.........
he said in iift the seats are under different categories like general, sc, st & foreign nationals. Now if the candidates of a particular category are not deemed fit for filling up the entire seats, these seats are not transfered to other categories & remain vaccant, for example, he said...tht last year not even one foreign national was deemed fit for admission so not even ones' name was thr in the main or waiting list so all 6 seats for foreign nationals remained vaccant.

hope it explains the discrepancy b/w no of seats announced & filled.

well amit i have already cross checked that.

if it is by the email ids given in the list than mine id is 4th & so mine no must be 4th & not 21,
& similarly for u the no must be 41 & not 39.in the list they have just given all gmail ids first & then hotmail, rediff etc & so on
even in tht if you mix all the ids & sort them alphabetically then ur no will be around 60 & not 39........check that.

& even if tht is true i cant figure out why they send me the letter acc to my name & to u acc to ur email id. & if they have actually done this how did they mix the two lists.

Mine frend also wl at iift.... v went to d insti 2 enquire..... n were told they will be sendin out sum 25 letters 2 wl ppl./..

So all u wl ppl jus relax n wait for 2morow.......

i just called up IIFT.. regarding the confirmation list of the waitlisted candidates...
They've asked me to call after 2:00 pm ... but still not assuring me that the results will be out by that time.... dont know how much tiome they need to prepare this list .
this waiting is now killing me.... hope the wait will end today.....

hey me 2 called up & they told me 2 to call after 2:00 but they said tht result was ready, they just needed to complete some formalities.

i got admission.

Serial no. on my letter was 16.

Someone told me about 25 people in WL could make it.

Hi PGmates,
Just called up IIFT to hear the golden words "Yaa you have been selected...". Was shaken for a while but at the end was on the cloud nine.
the number on my letter was 10.
The guy I spoke to me, told me that they had already dispatched a letter thru courier as well as registered post. we will have to send the fees by 16th of may along with a medical certificate and some photographs.

But would like to mention that the period after the initail rejection gave me an opportunity for some soul-searching. I was very disappointed this being my only call. But slowly I realised that it didnt effect anything. there was always a next time to prove myself. It gave me an window to find the shortcomings in me. And yes some of the posts on PG really inspired me and helped me thru that difficult phase. HAIL PG!!!
I realised that at the end of the day all that matters is what u learn of it and move on.

For all those who missed out this time, I would only say that we on the other side are lucky to some extent and noting more. You`ll have already seen the process once and next time u`ll can get thru it too. All the best and best of luck. :smile:
