plz don't get disheartened..me too had XLRI, MDI, IIT-D,B but couldn't convert NONE and what's more didn't even make it to the waitlists..but i have no regrets as mayb i'm not suited to doing an mba this yr..else these rejects doesn't make ne sense..mayb i don't have the skills which they need..after spending an yr or 2 at the job(currently a fresher) i hope gain in some confidence and knowledge(yes, i need that, in XL and IIT-B pi they destroyed me)..and then i'll give another shot..things can only become better from here..
i hope u have a job..a guy with so many calls ought to deserve 1..so in my opinion u should go for a job and do it sincerely..it will help u to improve ur personality..give u knowledge which will help u with the gds and pis among other things(at least u can then divert ur conversation to ur work ex then)..and as it is mba is meant for ppl with work ex..u can better relate to what they teach..see, u'll be in a better position to score well during MBA exams..u know what u're studying else u again start with all that ratafication which frankly speaking i, at least am fed up of(doing that all my life, need to do sumthing constructive now)..u'll be eligible for laterals..
Believe me..2 yrs down the line if u do an mba u'll be a much happier person(and a well paid 1 too)..

It seems to me from personal view point that serial no. given on top of ur address slip is the wait list no. coz I think that insti would prefer to give admission to people as per there ranking when it comes to waitlist rather than giving admission to everyone
The benefit of the process is that in case seats are left for admission; the insti can strtway contact PPL who are interested rather than delaying it by sending offers to PPL who aren't interested
HOWEVER, your name figuring in waitlist isn't gaurantee of your admsiion its hope that when your turn comes . there is still a seat remaining vacant.....

my number printed on the label is 3...
that cud also be b'coz my roll number figures in the first 20 in ascending order...
if some1's roll number is in the last 20, the number printed on his label cud be 70...

i am romit.am in a similar condition as u.abt to graduate as an chemical engineer from nit jalandhar.got call from scmhrd,iitb,iitd and iift.failed to make it even to the waiting list of any of these. i am not able to convert any interviews.gd is ok but interview kill me.one of the main reasons y i am also jobless.pressure is really on. i am going to have a crack at mba this year 2.need to work on my interview.
i think people like us who cud not make it this time shud get together and help each other out.do give me some tips abt interview and how to go abt preparation this time

u never mentioned that u had iit-d in hand..plz don't let go of it..u can also meanwhile try for a job b4 the iit program starts..if u get 1..very well, now u can weigh ur options and see what u want to do and decide accordingly..if u couldn't find 1..np, u neway have iit in hand..which is a pretty decent college in its own right..the main pt i am trying to bring out here is to create options and then decide..and regarding ur %age..don't worry 63 is pretty decent..it's at least first class..even mine is hovering around 64% mark..so it couldn't be that bad :)..

first of all i would like to correct u that my name is not megha..man u even got my sex wrong..i can see u have a major problem in hand..don't worry..now that mba prep is over and done with, u must look for a job..u won't wanna waste a yr..who knows even nxt yr u might not get u any results..would really hurt then..
try for a job..other than good utilization of ur time it will give u valuable knowledge and work exp and help make u a more complete personality..
i know it's easier said than done..but honestly i don't have ne other advice for u..else neways u'll have to drop this yr which is the worst it can get..
however, god forbid, if u don't find a job..don't get disheartened..u then have ample time with u..u must utilize it effectively..go in for courses or activities u have interest in..like music, sports, personality dvlpmt courses, educational courses..remember this time won't come again and u must utilize it to the full..it's the best shot u can give to ur hobbies..and u can also prepare for MBA exams side by side..which i predict u'll be able to do easily..i hope u make it to the institution of ur choice nxt yr(plz hope for me too)..

The no on my letter is 21. did anyone verify if its serial no or wait list no.
Also the last year batch is somewhere around 100 in strength, does this mean that all from waiting who applied got through & even then seats were left or was it b'coz people left after paying up the fees.
Hi, it is to remind once again that 120 is permitted no. of seats while 100 is the one that insti fills in from amongst top 190 or so.
The seats are filled up beyond 100 if someone has taken admission and later got it cancelled
in last two batches the no of students taking admission ( whether leaving or not before date of joining) remained at 103 ( seems its a lucky no. for someone in admin??????????)
My guess abt the no. qouted on the letter on WL is as good as that of anyone else.
A suggestion here: for PPL having lower no on their WL letters assume it to be waitlist no and be optimistic
for guys with no very low in order can imagine of no. being given based on alphabatical order/ in order of exam roll no/ in order of appln form no
the message: be optimistic and hope for best

just one more thing.u must have some of ur batchmates who cleared from waiting list, i know one of them.last year too they got some no. on thr letters which iift said were just serial nos. but you might find out by looking at ur batch profile tht upto which serial no. students were able to clear the wait list. further this will ensure for sure if the no is actulally wait list no.
u might b feeling tht i m more concerned than necessary but tht is bcoz this is my only call.
I ve been following the other thread & all the impostor stuff quite attentively & believe me the response u seniors have shown will only increase peoples respect for iift regardless of whatever the impostors aim is.

I too got a mail from IIFT saying that my name has been placed in waiting list. I enquired from them my waiting list no. The number told to me is different from the one on my letter.
So, I think the no. on our letters is just a serial no.
And one more thing, If I am not wrong, there are 120 seats in IIFT. But, 166 candidates have been short listed for MBA-IB this time and the waiting list has around 75 candidates. My only concern is that if already 46 candidates are extra in the final list, then chances of candidates in waiting list become bleak. Do let me know if anyone has any idea about the last year admission process, number of short listed candidates in the first list and the waiting list number of the last candidate who could make it.

I myself mailed to enquire about the waitlist no. and I was told the same.
I am not sure, whether any more such queries will be answered by IIFT or not.
Probably after 29th April, they'll put the waitlist on the IIFT website.
My previous question about 166 candidates being shortlisted in 1st list still remains unasnswered :-(

see the last year what happened was that the no. of final calls were 120. over and above this, a waitlist had been prepared. this time round, the scene is different. so in order to compare the two situations, let us assume that there is no such thing as a confirmed list and a waiting list, but just merit nos. from 1-300.
last year, people till merit no 220 were taken in. (assuming the letter no. is your waiting list no. and adding that to the no. of confirmed calls)
which means that indeed, we see many students leaving iift to flock greener pastures, which are many.
of course, this info is not official. i am not a student of iift, just came to know these figures.
this year, if we assume the same figures to rule, i think waiting list nos. 1-50 should be expecting a letter.
again, mere speculation.
but here we have a piece of info that is quite interesting. if you don't mind, please tell us your letter serial no. as well as the waiting list no. that they told you. (if it is not proprietory info)
i did not come across a single person who came to know the actual waiting list no.
atb to all in the same boat. i got thru nitie. will face a dilemma after 29th.

Guys as far as i know generally the seats get cleared roundabout 190-191..nd there's no need for anxiety..just wait for iim results..many seats will be vacated..
Am on Xlri wl and have converted iift..i am seriously praying ki i cud help the iift WL to move up by one..

I m back from iift just now,after depositing my fees. i talked to the officer in the admission office . i inquired him abt our waiting list numbers to which he replied tht they had only given an alphabetical list. when i asked about the serial no. on the slip he said these are in alphabetical order & since my name started with g so mine was 21, he said. when i asked him abt my friend getting a no 39 & whose name started with a, he said it cant be possible, he cross checked his records and finally said tht no must be 3 somehow it got misprinted by the typist.
now i m back & have again checked the other names whom the mail were sent. even then if i buy his argument mine no must be 23 & not 21 & as gitikas name comes after me so hers cant be 16 & similarly my friends no will fall somewhere around 6 which can not be mistyped as 39. SO ALL THIS MAKES ME FEEL THAT THESE NO ARE ACUALLY WAITING LIST NO.
now abt geetika getting a mail from iift & informing her of some other no...........i mailed them the same query on the very day i recvd. thr mail & have send them a query again & i believe many other people d have done the same, then why did they select only geetika to tell her the truth & nobody else..........even last year they didnt tell anybody of thr wait list no.then why now...........geetika if you can please forward the mail you recieved from iift abt ur actual wait list no on this forum or on my id at [email protected] it will be of grt help to ur fellow iiftians
