The interview was to be conducted in New Delhi head office of SBI. I was happy and started preparing for the interview. My preparation consisted of studying the following areas.
1. General knowledge: Mostly focusing on banking related matters like ATM, CBS, banking operations, day to day banking related news, computer application in banking field etc.
2. Subject Knowledge: I revised the basic subjects I learnt in btech mostly focusing on subjects like networking, OS, database which are important for banking sector.
3. SBI history: I collected information about the SBI bank, its history, working etc. All this you can get from their website.
That's it. This was all I did from my side for preparation, rest I left to the time to come.
Interview Date
Then the interview date came and I headed to Delhi. SBI head office is located in posh area near many important places and offices. I reached the head office on time. My turn was in the afternoon though the interviews got delayed which is quite natural.
The candidates were called in groups and seated in a hall outside the interview room. One by one a candidate from the group was called inside the room. I waited for my turn patiently, relaxing myself in the mean time.
And then my turn came. I was called along with few others into the hall where we all were seated. Some candidates went inside before me. I was a bit nervous which is quite natural to happen but was confident, given the preparation I had done.
Then my turn to go inside the room came. I went inside, wished everyone and seated on the chair. There were 5-6 sbi officials in the panel. All were good, cool and cheerful. They made me feel comfortable. My interview started with general discussion like my introduction, hobbies, why I want to join sbi, what my parents do etc.
Then they took my certificates and mark sheets, they looked through the subjects I studied in btech and asked some questions in them. As I was already prepared I had no problem facing them. They asked basic questions mostly focusing on networking & database.
Then they asked about banking related stuff like mobile banking, what is cbs system, how computer is important in banking sector, some question about atm working etc. These were very basic things of computer technology as used in banking sector.
I was able to convince them with my answers. They were happy and I too was satisfied. It was time to go and I wished everyone goodbye. On my way back to home, I visited parliament, jantar mantar, rbi and enjoyed the day!!
After few months I got the appointment letter. I was happy and my office was in Mumbai.

M1:(Interrupting in btw) when did you completed ur Btech
Me: 2010
M1: So you are working now
Me: Answered
M1: What sort of work you do ? whats your position and work timings Me: Answered
M1: it seems you are doing a great job there, Why u r leaving that job Me: I have told the truth. (Im working on one legacy system which is almost came to an end. Getting projects now a days is difficult.So im leaving) Seems they are not satisfied with my answer
M1: If you want to switch to some other technologies then you can do that with in ur organization right?
Me: I have explained some practical difficulties on that point but still his face didnt show any sign of satisfaction ??
Then he asked M2 to continue..
M2: It seems he knows about my college and some info abt that city. So he started with that how is ur city. I was there once and like....
M2: He asked about my relationship with clients and how my exp ll be helpful in SBI
Me: Answered. Since i have exp in support and maintenance projects .. I can handle customers easily. something like that...
M2: Then he asked abt onsite opportunities in my company..
Me: Answered
L1: what is DBMS and how it is helpful to Banking
Me: explained abt ACID properties and some applications of DBMS
M3: what is the diff btwn Data warehousing and Data mining

They asked about myself,network security basics....how can the security be made more effective.....c lang.,....financial inclusion....They can ask u anything...interview lasted nearly 20-25 mins per candidate

Panel:I (there was only one panel anyways )
There were totally 13 candidates in my shift and my number was 7th. Our interviews started at around 3.30PM as the interview of morning shift guys went till 2.30PM.
My interview turn came at around 5.30PM.
The interview duration for all of us was around 20-25 mins and was totally focused on the details mentioned in the bio data form.
Panel: 5 members including 1 female all aged around 50.
Interview Room: In the centre there was a tea table. So the complete body language was visible to everyone. I was seated on a chair.
1Male was sitting right in front on a sofa. 1Male and the lady in my right side on another sofa.
Other 2 Male interviewers in lefy hand side.
They were asking questions in clockwise order.
M1:1.)Tell us about your educational background(no self intro).
2)This will be a complete change from what you are doing.Will you be able to manage? (Currently I am a test lead and hence this question came).
M2: 1) What is testing
2) Testing techniques
3) Regression testing
4) some questions about what social networking site as it was my project in college.
5) First method in a java class(i.e. main method )
6) Can main method return any arguments.
7) Can main methos be parameterized
8)diff between overloading and overriding 9) is it necessary that all methods of a abstract class be abstract.
10) wat is the weakness of social networking sites
11) are there any banks over social networking sites
Lady: Indian economy is known as mixed economy due to two factors. Name them (ans public and private)
M4: 1)Data file in oracle
2) redo bufferlog
3) dbms is physical or logical
4) online backup and example
All these DBMS Questions were asked coz i told m working in a datawarehousing project.
M5: who is the foreign minister of india.
Thats all!!
Interview went fine. At the end M2 asked if we ask you to work for a mobile application will you be able to work.
I answered yes with a proper justification as why i will be.
Suggestions to all those attending interview tomorrow.
1) Every question will belong from the bio data form. So mentiom each details carefully. One guy in my shift mentioned hobby as bookreading.So they asked author of a book which he was unable to ans.
2) Thoroughly study basics of what you have done in college and what you are doing.
3) Be confident.
4 ) Dress well

People with clashing interview dates of SBI SO and IBPS SO please keep mailing and calling SBI. Make them realise that this is not fair what they've done. And if anyone has any updates please share

Go for IBPS SO IF u are not sure of having enough marks than cutoff in SBI SO, as their are high chances that IBPS SO seats will increase..coz many banks have not declared their requirements..
Anyone attempted below 30 question n got selected in sbi so 2017 in general cat
Even if Mumbai guys prepare well, but full marks are not given.. Kolkata candidates will get more benefit... as last year many candidates got maximum marks... unlike other centres....
Do i ve to write Late before my father name in the bio data form name as he is no more ,, some are saying yes and sompe people saying no plz any one reply...
do i have to fill all the 4 bio data form in hand or just fill one n take 4 photocopies of it...?
