If anyone wants any suggestion related to mains he can ask on 21/1/18. Last time I qualified for the interview but iss baar cutoff ka shikaar. Jo tum aaj dekh the ho ye mujhe tbhi dikh gya tha jb last yr 16 Jan Ko calendar aaya tha IBPS ka. Isliye lagatar mail krke pattern change ki baat keh rha tha kyunki pta tha ki deserving candidates mainstk phunch hi nhi payenge. But IBPS ne ek nhi suni. Koi baat nhi kisi Ko kuch puchna hai to 21/1/18 dopahar ke Baad puch skta hai.
Ppl who cleared Prelims, stop showing off by posting your high marks and start preparing for mains, this time ppl with good preparation have nice chance to clear mains. I bet, 3/4th of deserving candidates are out of race. 😑😶😣
With only 7 days left, its time to gear up your preparation & cover the most important topics. u should focus especially on 3 subjects::networking, DBMS ,OS within these 7 days. I am here giving u a list of topics from various subjects that I think are important to cover before the exam. This list may appear big but never judge too quickly.
Computer basics:: Comp generations, abbreviations, RAM,Rom, devices, MS office basics etc
Microprocessors:: RISC & CISC(I think full form & knowledge abt the conceptual diff b/w these 2 is enough), 8085 & 8086(no need to read the entire theory. u should know the basics for ex- size of address bus, data bus, interrupts)
OS:: U must be aware of types of OS and the differences b/w them, deadlock conditions, basics of paging & segmentation, page replacement algorithms
Networking:: Types of cables and communication modes(simplex, half duplex etc),list of IEEE standards, topologies, OSI/TCP model and devices and protocols used at respective layers, IP addressing(subnetting), firewall, keys used in cryptography
DBMS:: Schemas,base of every DBMS Model( for ex hierarchical model baed on tree,network on graphs, relational on tables etc), Type of keys(Foreign key), Normalization, SQL basic commands, er diagram symbols, ACID property of transactions,definition of data mining & data warehouse
Web development:: XML schema syntax &symbol used, tables/frames in HTML
Programming:: This section may contain both theoretical and programming questions from c, c++ and java. To non programmers this section may appear very tough but still u can cover basics of OOPS (Encapsulation, Inheritance, Abstraction , Polymorphism). Learn about the developer of these languages. If possible cover the concept of pointers, preprocessor directives, language translators
Data Structures::Complexity table of sorting & searching algos, Stack(LIFO),Queue (fifo),CONDITIONS in which diff data structure is to be used(for ex we cant use linked list for random access), Traversals
Software Engineering:: A specific property of each model.( for ex:: Boehms spiral model is used for risks), Diff b/w validation and verification, Types of testing,
Compiler design & TOC:: Phases of Compiler, Chomsky classification of grammers, Mealy Moore machines purpose
Digital Logic:: Number system ( just remember base of every number system), Logic gates, classification of ckts into combinational & sequential

It was my first interview for a govt job since I completed my graduation in July 2016. I was not nervous & pretty confident since I have been preparing for the interview for a month. I hv read atleast 40-50 previous yr interview experiences. So I was prepared for each & every type of question. Since the job profile was IT officer, I hv covered all aspects of IT(my subjects in graduation),all aspects of banking, current issues etc.
The process started with biometric verification. The next step was document verification. It went smoothly. My turn came around 11:15 am. I entered the panel & wished them goodmorning. There were 6 panel members(1F+5M).
M3:Introduce urself.
me: told my name, my native place,my educational background(M4 interupted me & directly asked me about my father’s profession.)
M3:Asked about my year of graduation.
me:2016(It was a weird reaction from M3 after coming to know my year of graduation since I think I was the only fresher there)
M2: asked about any other exams that I hv given.
me: PO mains, clerk mains, SO it officer.
M4: Asked about my subjects in graduation…. Then started the rapid fire. I was very confident. But it was not my day.
M2: What is BCP?
me: I was thinking the answer from IT perspective. I thought he was asking of BGP or TCP. He said no. It was a term related to business management.
M3: Asked some questions related to disaster management procedures.
me: I was unaware of such steps.
M4:asked some qs related to managing directors of some govt committee.
me: Since it was a banking sector job , I had learned the chairpersons & MDs of all the banks. I was not expecting such qs.
F1:: Asked about the exact date of declaration of some govt. scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti padao’(she said it was a special day).
me: I knew about the provisions govt. has made under this scheme. But was unaware of the date of declaration.
M3 said:: Kuch padhkar aiye the ya aise hi aa gye…. . He asked me to leave…
Final Verdict:: No questions from IT & Banking for which I was prepared for. So “ Do expect the UNexpected”.
