What is Basel Norms ?πππΌπΌπΌπΌ
Bureau of International Settlement (BIS) headquarters at Basel, Switzerland has appointed a committee to supervise and to set some standards for International Banks. This committee is known as Basel Committee on Bank Supervision (BCBS). The rules and regulations for Banks issued by this committee were called Basel Norms / Accords. There are three Basel Norms, namely Basel I, II and III.
Basel I Accord : This was issued in 1988. This accord focused on the capital adequacy of financial institutions. Banks that operate internationally are required to have a risk weight of 8% or less. India adopted Basel I Norms in the year 1999.
Basel II Acord : This is the second of the Basel Accords, published in the year 2004. This consists of the recommendations on Banking Laws and Regulations issued by BCBS.
Basel III Accord : Basel III guidelines were released in the year 2010. This is to enhance the banking regulatory framework. It builds on the Basel I and Basel II documents and seeks to improve the banking sector's ability to deal with financial and economic stress, improve risk management and strengthen the banks' transparency.
Financial inclusion or inclusive financing is the delivery of financial services at affordable costs to sections of disadvantaged and low-income segments of society, in contrast to financial exclusion where those services are not available or affordable. An estimated 2.5 billion working-age adults globally have no access to the types of formal financial services delivered by regulated financial institutions. For example in Sub-Saharan Africa only 24% of adults have a bank account even though Africa's formal financial sector has grown in recent years.[1] It is argued that as banking services are in the nature of public good; the availability of banking and payment services to the entire population without discrimination is the prime objective of financial inclusion public policy.
purpose
1access at a reasonable cost for all households to a full range of financial services, including savings or deposit services,
payment and transfer services,
credit and insurance;
sound and safe institutions governed by clear regulation and industry performance standards;
financial and institutional sustainability, to ensure continuity and certainty of investment; and
competition to ensure choice and affordability for clients.

Bank of India, Noida: 7 Jan, 8 30 am
Panel:9
Documents verified by- 9 15 am
I was the first one to get it done as the guy on my side was having issues as he was this year's passout.
I had a good conversation with the guy checking my documents who asked me why I had quit my higher paying job for this one. I told him I'd quit two years ago because of bad work-life balance, and he said that PO's also have to work a lot these days and he himself put around 12-13 hours each day. After verifying all my docs; this really took a lot of time as he was checking each and every document; he pointed out to me a mistake in my name for the second sem marksheet but did not make a hue and cry about it. Also, he gave me advice on how to behave in the interview and what were the probable questions in the interview. He told me to play it cool and behave as if it was only a conversation and said that with my work-ex I really had a good chance.
After this, I was raring to go!
I had to wait outside the interview room for around ten minutes as the panel had not assembled and my documents had not been delivered. In that time I chatted a bit with the coordinator about how the panel was and whether they would conduct the interview in Hindi and English; he said both. After that I was called in by the panel which had 4 members who all were male.
1. I was asked to introduce myself by the first member which I did, and then he asked me questions about Delhi and the changes that it had seen over the last 13 years. After that, he asked me what would I do if I was in charge of Delhi just like Kejriwal is right now! Then he asked me about my college, where it was and the famous personality it is named after. After that, he asked about my father and what he did and he stopped after that.
2. The second one asked me about my work exp, what I did in my job, and why I had quit it. He again said that Bank PO job was also tough. Then he asked me about other papers I had given so I told him about RBI Grade B and NICL. He asked me whether I would choose Grade B or PO, and I was able to justify my reply. He asked me about my degree. Then he asked me the subjects I had in my college degree. He stopped after that.
3. The third one asked me in detail about and the projects I worked on. Then he asked me about MOA and AOA (Memorandum of Association and Article of Association) and the difference between them; I was somewhat able to answer this question. After that he asked me about contracts and which people were not allowed to enter into them; I knew this.
4. This was the worst part of the interview for me. He first asked me whether I had accounts as a subject and I told him I did. He asked what is DSCR(Debt Service Coverage Ratio); I could not remember it. Then he asked me what is positioning in marketing and especially for banks? I was able to somewhat answer this. Then he asked me what is breakeven point and what is the formula? I was somehow able to answer this but he was not very happy with this.
After that I was allowed to leave, I was hoping they would offer me the toffees on the table but they did not
All in all an excellent experience with a very cordial panel which took around 10-15 mins.
