dont take a leased accommodation if you get city posting. I was given a flat 60km from my branch and was asked to share with 3 other guys. In case of rural posting, there will be no leased housing.
HRA is only 8.5% of basic in metros (around 1200 only).
If you take a house on lease and submit the notarized agreement, you will get upto 8000 as HRA. However min period for such agreements is 11 months and during probation, you will be transferred after every 3-4 months. So, take 1200 and adjust till training is over.

Work culture: friendly but dude as a PO, you are supposed to work like a donkey. See my prev posts

Took time off & preparing for civils interview. You must be knowing that it is a great gamble and will be over in april. I wont be getting posting as auditor in cag till 2014. So, during the meantime, I want to work in some bank.

Its true .. barring rural branches there is staff shortage and huge workload + irritating customers ..

@bunswap
working hrs 9am to 6/6.30pm in cities
10am to 4.30/5pm in villages

Observe the difference

Thanks....On the basis of your information I would never go for leased accommodation rather will take house on lease & submit notarized agreement. If I stay in my hometown then I can able to manage 11 month Agreement problem:) even if i get transferred after every 3-4 Months.
Anyway, how is the transfer policy? since I belong to Kolkata & Allahabad bank Head office is in Kolkata so can I expect transfer within this zone or also outside this zone?

Kindly also comment on OD, Loan Account A/c....will we get it after 11 Month or after ending the probation?

the allowances in the PSB's are more or less same (except SBI) some pay rs50 more for one thing & pay rs100 extra for other & the diff. is like 2-3k which hardly matters same go for OD & loan a/c etc.....

@pks86
You will be transferred only within your zone of allocation till scale-4. (unless you haven't completed mandatory rural posting in scale-1 and rural branches in your zone are less)

loan account will be given after probation. OD can be taken after 11 months or even earlier if you know someone in top management.

a new po become eligible for most of the allowances after completion of probation

Puys, I have one question. Please help me. Thing is currently I am working and notice period is 2 months. So, since all of puys are telling that joining may be probably in April. I have a score of 63.76 (GENERAL). So I took a leap of faith and resigned today after thinking over it for too long. Please advise if I did the right thing...?
Yes....You are surely going to get a seat :)

Bhaiyo ye OD kya hoti hai?

over draft

Just received my appointment letter of SBI clerk phase 2..have to report on 25 feb.

Ghor sankat---> with a score of 62.86 in IBPS PO, I should join SBI Clerk or wait for IBPS PO results, or I should join SBI clerk and leave if a get a chance with IBPS PO?

@simplyshrey wiat and watch

@raghu00
OD is account in which bank officials have zero balance and can withdraw upto minus 4 lacs (in ALB). Based on how much you take from it, you will pay interest and finally before retiring, it should have zero balance.
Just imagine that you have 4 lacs in your account which can be used as loan for any emergencies but there is no need to get any approval from anyone. When your financial requirement is over, deposit back the money into OD account because interest will be charged.
