Rs. 48,239 crore package for 12 banks cleared . The Centre has approved a recapitalisation package of Rs. 48,239 crore for 12 public sector banks, Financial Services Secretary Rajeev Kumar said on Wednesday. . He said the objectives were to bring the better-performing banks now in the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) category out of the restrictive framework, help those that had come out of the PCA to stay out of it, equip non-PCA banks to meet regulatory requirements, and help the PCA banks to meet their requirements. Allahabad Bank and Corporation Bank will get Rs. 15,982 crore to exit the PCA framework. Bank of India and Bank of Maharashtra, which recently exited the PCA category, are to receive a total of Rs. 4,843 crore, the bulk of which (Rs. 4,638 crore) would go to the former.
