Hi All,

It is good to see some more additions to this thread, I hope others too join and share their stips and strategies of tackling GMAT.I have started preparing from KAPLAN premiere , the Maths section.At present I am using only KAPLAN, also have old CAT material.Is 3-4 months enough for getting a 700+ score?Also following OG,KAPLAN would be enough or should we refer other material for a great score?Are you guys also researching on colleges simulataneously or keeping that after the GMAT is done.Let us make this thread more active and help each other in preparing

Hi Abhinav,

You can refer this thread http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/gmat-query-center-2010-13-25055904, to know everything about the GMAT exam. You can also visit mba.com to register for the exam and get details.There are lot of stuff related to GMAT on Pagalguy and also on the Internet, Google and you will find loads to read.For prep material,GMAT OG is a must as it has the original questions retired from GMAT.Besides there are other materials like KAPLAN, Princeton etc.

@Kungfupanda2

Thanks bro thanks a lot for your help... I have got soft copy of OG gmat 12th edition.. I have started reading it....:

Hi All
I am saket, mechanical engg with 2 years work ex in automobiles.. any one interested n a study group ?

Hi Puys,

Anybody registeredfor GMAT yet? Anyone already shortlisted on colleges, or waiting to do that after GMAT? I have started with KAPLAN premiere maths section, but would like to know How others are tackling their preparation? Are you doin maths and then verbal, or simultaneously doing both? For Problem Solving are you all doing only OG, or do we need to practice CAT level stuff also?

@Kungfupanda2

I have started reading OG12th edition and along with giving more impetus as on now upon reading skills, hence reading good English articles from internet. For maths I am revising T.I.M.E material topics again!!!
As of now only his much.....
how are u planning to move ahead with ur prep??:thumbsup:

@BrandAbhinav- hey nice to hear abt ur plans with the prep.I have just started with the maths refresher in KAPLAN, have read and done the few given problems.Now I am a bit confused, the Maths syllabus for GMAT may be similar to topics in CAT, but the problems in GMAT,and CAT are different, so I was wondering whether preparing from CAT material would help, or make it confusing.I have Arun Sharma and was thinking of preparing from there by doing just the LOD1, as I dont think we need to do LOD2 or 3 for GMAT, also covering CAT material in next 3-4 month would be bit too much, that too only for Maths. Please let me , as I am really stuck with this dilemma, whether to prepare from CAT stuff, or just do GMAT books.On a different note are you also planning for CAT this year? For GMAT which colleges/country you have in mind, or have kept that decision to post GMAT days.

@other puys in kolkata planning GMAT- Let us make this thread active and help each other in preparing.

@Kungfupanda2

Do read the concepts atleast of the cat material, baring the difficulty level of english i think CAT quant prep will suffice for GMAT, why to take chances practice them wont hamper your chances.:drinking:

Wht abt english reading???
what source u r following? By the way OG 12th edition of GMAt suggest OG guide for verbal and quant to be studied.
have u procured them?

@BrandAbhinav - Thanks dude for your inputs. I read somewhere that the OG verbal and Maths guides have overlapping qs as the OG12, I guess OG12 would suffice, but if you need more qs to practice you can too go with the other too.I have not yet started with English, but Manhatan Sentence Correction Guide is a must... It is the best book for building the fundamentals.Also Critical reasoning - Power Score Bible for Critical reasoning is something which most people refer, if you need CR fundas to be built from scratch..You can refer Clear Admit: MBA Admissions Consultants Blog, it features videos,tips on GMAT preps/sections from the test prep course KNEWTON...You can also register for free in Knewton.. You will get free tips in your email and also access to a free test.

Anyone having any idea regarding IMS Classroom. How good is it ?
