Well according to me answer would be 'E'.
Reason: Pronoun error, tense error.

What's the OA?
Hello every body..
I was going through the 1000 sc_questions. I jus wanted to know how useful it is? I find many questions vague....

Well most of the people find it useful. For me, I am not going through them because I have no time.
So it depends on the date you are planning to take the test and how much time you can actually give for your preparation. If time is no problem it is advised to go through 1000SCs.

But, you might like to have a look at this blog as well:-
beating GMAT & beyond: 1000 SC, CR are they worth your time?

Even I thought the answer should be E. But the answer given here is D. this is one of the questions from 1000 SC questions set. there is no explanation to it.. 😞

Wow! Looks like I am in trouble.

That is why I abstain from 1000SCs; no explanations.

Anyways, when are you taking GMAT and what all books you are using?

Wow lady! You have like all the time in the world; take your time and start with Kaplan's 800/premier/verbal workout
Princeton review

That all should be more than enough to fetch you 700+ score.

Confusing, it certainly is; but that is how it is. :)

1.A majority of the international journalists surveyed view nuclear power stations as unsafe at present but that they will, or could, be made sufficiently safe in the future.
(A) that they will, or could,
(B) that they would, or could,
(C) they will be or could
(D) think that they will be or could
(E) think the power stations would or could

the answer's D...A and B can be eliminated simply because they have a comma separating could and be... C is incorrect because here 'they' refers to the journalists..E is wrong because it involves use of unnecessary re-introduction of noun 'power stations'..if u hv ever used kaplan, u ll remember tht GMAT always likes to keep its sentences SHORT AND CRISP..so avoid the longer sentences in SC..also, i dont know the correct technical term but in this context, 'will' should be used and not 'would' because it refers to a future action not yet taken place..

ok.. i dint know about this "will" and would thing..
but i think the use of "they" in D is ambiguous..

the use of 'they' is ambiguous only if u consider the parts individually...try to read the sentence as 'the journalists view the power stations to be unsafe but they think that THEY COULD BE MADE SAFE in the future..see, in the first half of the sentence, power stations are referred to as unsafe, not journalists..so in the latter half, when we say BUT they can be made SAFE, we are referring to the power stations themselves and not the journos..hope u got it...neways, if its still nt clear, the option can be confirmed based on the use of 'will' itself..
