Thanks Puys, OAs will follow soon
For the first, according to me, all the given options are flawed by some way or the other.
a) Awkward construction -- the non-underlined part doesn't connect well.
b) the phrase "from the licorice plant" is awkwardly inserted between "which was recently discovered" and "50 times sweeter than sucrose" and this "licorice" phrase should have been closest to the "a substance". Moreover, it should be "discovered to be 50 times..."
c) "which" modifies plant --- wrong
d) "which" modifies sucrose -- wrong
e) distorts the meaning, seems that sucrose is found in the licorice plant rather than "a substance"
What say Puys? Is my analysis correct?
Anyone please, provide a detailed explanation of the other question.

Among lower- paid workers, union members are less likely than non union members to be enrolled in lower- end insurance plans imposing stricter limits on medical services and requiring doctors to see more patients, and spend less time with each.
a). imposing stricter limits on medical services and requiring doctors to see more patients, and spend
b). imposing stricter limits on medical services , requiring doctors to see more patients, and spending
c). that impose stricter limits on medical services, require doctors to see more patients, and spend
d). that impose stricter limits on medical services and require doctors to see more patients, and spending
e). that impose stricter limits on medical services, requiring doctors to see more patients and spending
"imposing" is not correct - it should tell abt the plans, not the effect of enrollment of workers. So options a and b are out...among the remaining three, only C has the correct parallel construction...
Ans is C..

My pick is D .
Hello there, most material I use (Kaplan, Princeton, Manhattan says we should use Whethere over if (as a rule of thumb). It irritates me a bit as well since I prefer if (less wordy for my ear). Anyways...this is just a rule of thumb not a rule by itself. Sometimes GMAT writers may prefer if over whether.
I have a question for you. Where can I get Spideys notes?
My picks --
1. C
book is singular so should be followed by was
2. D
whether should be used here and not if.
X or Y...X and Y should be parallel.
3. E
precedent of 'they' is not clear.
4. B
as should be used and not like.
B is parallel and clear.
5. C
phenomena is plural and phenonmenon is singular.
6. A
contend should be followed by that
A is clear.
7. B
not sure
8. C
parallelism is the key here
9. A
'likely to be' is correct idiom
'likely to be' is parallel with 'unable to'
10. A
'A prolific architect' should modify the architect so A is correct.
B is passive voice
What are the OAs ?
Btw, from where you got these questions Chhavi ?
my take is
1.C
2 d
3 e
4 e
5 c
6 a
7 c
8 d
9 b
10 a
in 8 we need to take care though its ism but the two parts are highlighting contrast so YET is better than AND

its not a thumb rule......
Whether is prefered over If it case we are comparing only two options and If is used if v use more than 2 option same is the case with Between(= Whether) and among (=IF)
