Hey Puys,
I would like to start this new thread for people from Delhi who are preparing for GMAT_2012.
Objective- To be able to connect with people who are on same boat (Preparing for GMAT,2012), share problems, doubts, queries, material.
Please mention briefly about your education background, strength and week areas of GMAT. How you are planning to prepare (i.e. which material, coaching class),your work experience (no of years, Industry), B-schools of wish list.
Briefly about myself- Commerce backgound, as of now I think I can manage with Verbal but Quant really seems like himlaya Mountains(really really scared...although I loved maths till 10th),I am planning to go step by step so right now it's GMAT official guide for preparation, working in ITes Sector (6.5 years, finance area), Insead and ISB (would like to include LBS and Harvard also but lets be pragmatic with our wish list).
Waiting to see good response from you puys.
Thanks
Shubh
Wow that's really surprising....no body is preparing for Gmat in delhi.

Hello Puys,
The below event may help many of you gain insights about management education.
Great Lakes is proud to inform you of GL Connect, a platform wherein Management aspirants across the country get a chance to network & associate with the Institute. Going beyond the regular agenda of discussing the School, application norms, addressing FAQs etc., this year the event offers much more.
GL Connect will present live discussions with the Dean of Great Lakes Institute of Management, Dr. Bala V Balachandran and eminent speakers such as Shantanu Prakash, Chairman, Educomp Solutions, Amit Agnihotri, Chairman, MBA Universe, Ashish Bharadwaj, Managing Director, GMAC-INDIA, Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju, Stanford Business School Alumnus and Ex-VC/PE Investor etc. Keep checking the Great Lakes website to find out which speaker is there in a given city.
Since inception of the institute, this platform used to be called Meet the Dean, with only Dr. Bala addressing the MBA aspirant audience. From this year, we have re-christened the same event as GL Connect and brought in a wider range of speakers to provide a global management perspective.
We are planning GL Connect as a four-city event, the details of which are given below. Registrations are already open for the event to be held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. Please find the details below-
23rd December 2011 - Delhi
28th December 2011 - Chennai
3rd January 2012 - Mumbai
4th January 2012 - Bengaluru
Register yourself on GL Connect 2011

Hey Shubh,
Thanks for starting this thread. I was actually looking for some guidance to kickstart my prep. :)
As far as my profile goes...I am working in the IT(software) sector as an engineer and have a WorkEx 4 odd years.
I am eyeing the 1 Year executive course. And ISB tops the list of my current BSchool wishlist , followed by XLRI and the IIMs (1 year Exec course) :)
Selection of my mode of prep requires guidance from my fellow puys...Please suggest. Also what would be the apt material to startoff my prep. I do have some material of a coaching institute TIME (did prepare a year back for CAT...but alas a disaster....cldnt balance work and studies 😞 Nevertheless.... I have decided to bounce back...
...)
Please guide me.....!!
Regards,
Meher
Hi everyone,
Nice to catch up with GMAT enthusiasts in Delhi/NCR.. Hope to be a party of a GMAT study group.
Brief Background: A recent graduate from IIT Bombay (2010 batch), I have been working in an educational solutions company for the past 6 months, after a business consulting firm for a year prior to that.
Briefly toyed with the idea of CAT during my last year, but thought MBA after work exp works best. Looking to dedicate a serious 4 months (Jan-April) for GMAT and get a good score.
Target: Any really good school in US/Europe. Hope to assess this after GMAT. Aiming for high 700s at GMAT, touchwood :)
Next steps: Guys, whoever is interested in the study group, lets catch up (PM me) or lets catch up this weekend (I stay in Delhi-South Ex 1) and look at sharing experiences and collaborating on studies.
hey ,
rahul cheers !! Great to see like minded and people with common goal ...
Acads : Grad from Hansraj , PG from ICFAI
eXP : 4 Yrs + ( Retail ) likes of Future , WHsmith ..
Looking forward for a real catalyst ...

Thanks shubh/rahul/mehar/ranjeet and all of you for warming up the discussion on GMAT.
I am a B.Tech. graduate from IIT Kharagpur and have work ex of 5.5 years. I am interested mainly in 1 year MBA programs. Like most of you who have been working in corporates, I am also not able to regularly study for GMAT. Infact, sometimes its quite boring to go back and study again quant and verbal. My understanding of GMAT is that its not a difficult exam but it requires decent amount of hardwork to practice questions and to balance speed v/s accuracy.
The practice needs regularity where I am actually finding myself on backfoot. It would be really great if we can form a small study group and meet once in a while to keep our preparations on track. This is important to sustain our momentum because normally the work and other distractions in our daily life actually derail our preparation and we end up with very little practice.
Cheers

Yes, this kind of group will definitely take us to success. I am looking forward to it.
Guys....Just wanted to remind all of us here that GMAT pattern would be changed in June'2012. How many of us are sure of getting good score in first attempt of GMAT.
Thanks everybody,
I have done bachelors from IIT Delhi and have total experience of 5.5 years. Lately I have been thinking about doing 1 year GMAT from ISB/Europe. Not clear on my plans now, but want to be done with GMAT first and then plan ahead. A bit of laziness has settled on with corporate life, so need some motivation to crack GMAT with good marks. Actually Its very good idea to form a study group where we can help each other. Lets get some more member on this forum, then we can schedule a meetup sometime next week.
Thanks guys for the wonderful response.. Glad to find so many likeminded people around preparing for GMAT dilligently. A small snippet of my experiences this past week:
Travelled to a few GMAT classes (Princeton, Wisommart) and spoke to them about their course structure, etc. Not really convinced if I should join them. Would like a class only for the discipline of studying with like-minded people and was hoping to get the same through this study group.
What do you guys feel? I really don't think the classes would help in any intellectual manner but rather drag me behind as I feel they would be slower than how I would rather prepare.

Let us make a group, select topics, ask questions and then discuss it. We can also meet on weekends if it is possible. You should also suggest something and we should start soon as GMAT structure is going to be changed and it is better to complete up to last May.
Thanks if anyone wants to start please reply soon and tell the methodology for study.
