a lot of weightage is given to xat pecentile altho i cannot give the exact weight attached(that is strictly confidential) In our batch all the people hav percentiles of 85 and upward and many people with 90+ percentile. My XAT percentile was 97 with 99 in english, 93 in GK and a paltry 60 in quant.I always let down my quant although it tries so hard to get into my mind 😃 Dint have calls from XL and XIM just becuz of my quant. Anyways, not regretting much now. U shd be happy to knw that u have a definite edge over many others and it shd be ok even if u underperform in ur GD/ PI becuz of ur good XAT %le.Of course, if u do well in both those stages, no one can stop ur admission into the college.

congrats on having a good XAT percentile. I hope u make it to GIM. It is not whether u are good or bad at GD/PI. More importantly, it is your preparation and performance on the D Day that matters the most. Just be fully prepared and do your best. Regarding the seats not being filled up,the following could be a plausible explanation. See GIM is a second tier institute( next to the league of MDI/ SPJ/JBIMS etc. So the quality of students starts declining as we go down the merit list. Initially120 seats are offered( the students which the management thinks deserve a seat in the institute) out of which some don't accept offers and go for better institutes. The remianing seats are not filled up because the management would not like to compromise on quality. That is why the waitlist doesnt move beyond a certain numbers. So they would sacrifice seats but not quality. But do not worry, a deserving student will not be deprived of a seat.
I really dont like comparing inst. on this forum, but i wouldnt say KJS is better than GIM. Many of my batchmates left KJS for GIM, most of them being mumbai locals. It has a little edge in terms of placements over GIM, but infra/faculty/ curriculum we are better.

Now frm ur point of view wat shud i do..gimme an honest answer...will u rate GIM better than all barring Narsee ( marketing/finance - my area).Again in narsee my rank is abt 1600 tho hve work ex of abt 4 yrs .wat 2 do?

I can understand your problem. In fact i myself was in such a situation when i had to decide between GIM and LIBA( the last date for LIBA was fast approaching and GIM results weren't out.)In your case, i would say that MICA and NMIMS are both superior to GIM and u shd go to those inst. if u get thru( MICA only if u are interested in media/advt/MR etc). Of all the inst u have mentioned, all of them are superior to FORE except perhaps LIBA(not very sure). So, if u get thru any one of these int. u will not regret your decision. Now it is upto you to decide. FORE is very costly and dunno if you will be happy after doing the cost-benefit analysis.However, it also depends on your priorities.Some questions to be asked:
1. Are u hell bent on doing an MBA this year only?
2. Please give details of ur work ex( if u have quality work ex, i must say u are wasting ur time applying to most of these inst. including GIM and maybe even NMIMS)
3.Can you afford the kind of money? Losing 55k and again spending abt 3-4 lacs for other inst.
ask urself these questions and then take a decisions accordingly

hey thx 4 replyin...u guys really helping us out of ur ways..now lemme tell u i hve work ex since june 2001...1st 16 mnths in hyatt regency n abt 4 the last 2 n half yrs I m wrkin IN GE capital ...so abt 4 yrs of experince.
NOW without sounding rude,I must say i talked 2 lot of people n they all say nmims n mica anyday better for me ..However apart frm them Fore they say is better than GIM/KJS/BIM N LIBA...reason delhi vs ribandar n the intustria interface which Fore has.I understand GIM is cost effective however Placement is all that wat matters at the end...Now I knw GIM is good however we cnnt disregard the major locational factor rite shashi..
n abt waitin 4 anther yr ..I m nt sre..by that time i ll b hvin close 2 5 yrs of xperience..hve no idea will i get the same amnt of leave which i gt for CAT 04 n ofcourse THE LUCK factor .(.abt percentile.)
so u see wat 2 do abt this 55k for fore..2 b deposited bt 18th mar n is NT REFUNDABLE

I had already said in my previous mail that NM and MICA are superior to GIM. Take a decision after consulting ppl from industry / alumni / various coaching inst etc. I still stand by my view that GIM is anyday better than FORE inspite of the LOCATION factor. Placements of FORE are not superior to GIM.If HLL comes to FORE and not GIM,it doesnt make FORE better than GIM.Please understand that there is a concept of differential placements in many institutes. They pay higher sals to IIM guys and very less to other inst. students.We dont have that concept which is why u dont see very big names coming to our campus. PPL like u will find it difficult to join at such low levels inspite of having such good work ex. We have had median sals of 4 lacs for a 105 strong batch( without adding extra frills offered by companies and no data fudging) I have already given names of some companies visiting campus and we have some big names coming. Also, please remember that if any campus claim an avg. sal of 6 or 7 lacs be sure to check if the figures are CTC becuase what sal u get in hand differs from what is told to u. We dont include all that while computing our sals.

it's going to be one ofthe last GD/PI for me as i havn't got through SIBM,SCMHRD. So plzz just pass the information abt the last year GD/PI process of GIM. I hav XAT score of 96.21%ile. So how much weightege is given to XAT score? and whether these ppl just go for acads or depends on the pannel as i wasn't through any ACAD question till date in mine last 4 PIs. So feeling a bit unlucky as i think i am sound in my acads.

i think asking aabout comparisons as to wether fore is better or any other college is better than gimis completely unnecessary. gi is avery good college, with good placements, excellent faculty. i intend to study there at al costs. it wuld be a rewarding exp
