Bank Rate: The interest rate that is charged by a countrys central or federal bank on loans and advances to control money supply in the economy and the banking sector.

for example the rate at which State bank of India will borrow from RBI is Bank rate.

Repo Rate: When banks have any shortage of funds, they can borrow it from Reserve Bank of India or from other banks. The rate at which the RBI lends money to commercial banks is called repo rate, a short term for repurchase agreement. A reduction in the repo rate will help banks to get money at a cheaper rate. When the repo rate increases borrowing from RBI becomes more expensive. The repo rate in India is currently 8.5 % as of October 25,2011

Repo (Repurchase) rate is the rate at which the central bank lends short-term money to the banks against securities. Which the central bank buys back also. the buy back rate is called Reverse Repo Rate.

1. Only 2 AC Rooms available and that too may not be available.

2. NON-AC Rooms are available.

3. No single seater available. Only 2 seater or 3 seater rooms are there.

4. Rates : 2 seater - Rs 525 , 3 seater - Rs 725

5. Rooms are OK.

6. You may call on this number : 08322366422 for more details.

I called them and they say they are already full. they have no rooms available for 26th..:|

Adding on to what Anand said,

1. Bank rate is for long term while Repo rate is for short term.

2. In Repo rate, banks borrow money by selling their securities. Same is not the case with Bank rate. Bank rate is similar to borrowing money from someone and paying interest on that amount.

Reverse repo rate is the rate of interest at which the central bank borrows funds from other banks for a short duration. The banks give their short term excess funds to the central bank and earn interest on it.

It is also a short term like Repo rate.

The current reverse repo rate is 7.5% what i know.

Yes, you are right.

Repo rate or repurchase rate is the rate at which banks borrow money from the central bank which is RBI for INDIA and it is for short period by selling their financial assets with an agreement to repurchase it at a future date at predetermined price.

It is similar to borrowing money from a money-lender by selling him something, and later buying it back at a pre-fixed price.

Inflation rate in Dec 2011 was 7.47%. From Jan 2012 it is 6.55% . what all factors contributed to this reduction? Also, is it stable? How can we say it is stable or not?

Hi,

Fall in vegetable prices was the major contributing factor in dis reduction as the agricultural growth has been very good in d past months.
Also as d economy is trying 2 gnaw back 2 a good position prior 2 Budget being declared....it wont b stable......mostly it will decrease a bit more.....
For RBI.....a decent / safe rate is 5 - 6% b4 dey can think of decreasing d interest rates which dey hiked during infaltion........
Hope dis little info helps....
