hello all ya juniors
here's the unofficial guide to what stuff to bring to GIM when u land there in about three weeks time.
all the things i am listing here are NOT on the essentials list. . if u do not have any of the stuff, or do not plan to lug it all the way to goa, or dont even understand what is written, no probs. u can make do quite well even without them. however, if u can manage to bring stuff here, well, life is a wee bit brighter, thats all
academic stuff:
a laptop (yeah, the college will get u a super duper deal. if u dont have a laptop, buy it from the
colllege. but if u already HAVE a lappie, bring it here. the college lappies could take a month to get
there, and ur lappies will be of great use in the meantime)
patch cords and switches ( seniors, please give the exact technical name for this stuff)
books or software on:
accounting
cost accounting
operations research (prod'n planning, job scheduling, pert cpm etc)
marketing
organizational behaviour
business law
any job related literature that you may have
annual reports of companies
non academic:
automobile (two wheelers or cars. panjim is 4 km away, and u will also need to go on industrial visits, not to mention all those beaches. fikar not, the college has enuf parking space. also, bring along a helmet, even if u dont have a 2w. u will be in for a lot of biking.
extention chords
rain gear
any and every kind of software that is even remotely useful, whether for work, play or entertainment. and i mean any and every kind.
books: fiction, inspirational, self help, literature, whatever.
musical instruments ( our batch already has a guitar, drums and a flute. and we have a lot of music going on in college.
digital cameras.
lots of stuff to eat, preferably home made. it is the best ice breaker u can get.
an open mind. u r gonna share your living space with people from all parts of india, with all sorts of ideas and foods and lifestyles, and wildlife endemic to the konkan coast. ( unlike the other stuff on the list, this IS important. very important.)
seniors, please add to the list. there could be stuff i might have missed out.

So wats decided than is it XLRI or GIM..Btw the second receipts will not be sent home they will have to be collected by us from college only and regarding the medical certificate,i dont think you shud have any problem in sending it now also..but still confirm by calling jenny Mam..

Medical Certificate no issues, go to Goa and get it done with the Campus Doc. Even i did that. Don bother much...
