To all guys who cudnt clear entrance exams, ok now i will write abt my journey, i passed out in 2008 from decent college.....i had got around 8 KT'S in my engineering n managed 2 get degree in 4 years...but it was of no use i cudnt get decent job due 2 my low grad%...n finally got a job with salary of 15,000rs per month.i gave cat exam in 2007(in 3rd yr of engineering),2008,09,10 but failed miserably....gave snap, iift, xat in 2007,08,09,2010.....i felt i cud crack cat in 2010 so left job in aug 2010 to study n managed mere 78 percentile...it did hurt me badly but still snap n other exams were there..so studied for snap n got thru sibm-bangalore....its not gr8 college but okish.i m below average guy.i just want to tell my friends keep trying till you succeed.Never ever lose hope.be positive.i had to give exams four times....i dont even have so much money to pay sibm-b fees.......but finally my aim is to do MBA.No matter how much time a person takes to succeed but it's the attitue dat matters.Keep trying guys, remember failures makes the person more HARD and i tell u dat most successful people have gone thru big failures, its stepping stone towards success.Keep trying for entrance exams,u will get what u deserve one day.Dont lose heart...be positive. note:sorry for writing such big post. Rejects:siib, scmhrd, ximb converts:sibm-b

I'll b done with internship in the mid of august. The question is, what after that?
Atleast put in all ur efforts in internship till august.also start preparing for cat.If u are able to convert ur internship in final placement its good else u can look in for jobs in other companies..the exams are in nov-dec n you will have gd i in jan to March with final admission conformation somewhere in April-May.So even if u manage to get job somewhere or in the same company u ll hv a good 8 months experience tll ur gd-pi. ATB and work hard
True i guess i think too much. My bad. Thank you very much :)

temme if there is a worse record then mine.... CAT10- 97.20 XAT10-98.23 IIFT-36.4x TISS-45.xx NMAT-223 FMS was a blunder Calls- XLRI both, IIM K, TISS, NMIMS, XIM B, IMT, IMI, SRCC GBO, UBS Rejects- XLRI both, IIM K, TISS, IMT didn't attend NMIMS (date clash) and SRCC Waitlist- XIM B (15, IMI (330odd) Background- Mathematics hons from university of delhi
Now my parents, family, friends and even I have started doubting my skills in PI. I have very good GD skills as well as essay writing skills.. well m a jobless person probably a fact associated with most of maths hons people atleast in delhi university. and i don't think i'll get a good job in d near future...so it becomes all that more imperative for me to convert UBS chandigarh..which i never wanted to join...i know i can again get such calls or even better one's next year but the problem is m not getting a job...so i m forced to join UBS if i convert...i hope no1 faces such a situation as i do...just wanted a platform to vent out my frustration... but i'll not give up...my dream is not to just get a good MBA degree..for me MBA is a means to an end...and to that end- i'll write my own destiny... Hardwork never goes unpaid
On the first day of joining coaching for CAT-10, a faculty said>>It is possible for a UP board(a syudent of 10th and 12th from Uttar Pradesh board) can do good in CAT but can't go through PI. I was the lone student from that center who belong to UP board and the lone call getter from IIM-K but couldn't convert it............n now that sentence is making me feel like hell.............

Do you have an idea about what went wrong in your GD-PI? If yes, then work on it. I very highly doubt if there's no UP board student enrolled in any IIM right now. I know it's easier said than done, but having faith and working on yourself can surely get you into an IIM.
I am so frustrated & confused right nw. need sm advice. hv converted nit trichy & sibm bnglr. time faculty say sibm-b is a better college ims faculty say nit trichy is a better option.

I would suggest not selling yourself short because you don't like your job. Your Profile suggests you at least deserve a top 35 MBA institute. Look at people who have converted and then take a call.

Dude,
Whoever said this is out of his mind.I am not aware of the UP board and all but i know all State boards are alike. The myth that people who studied in State board not getting into MBA colleges in untrue. The only thing that we should do is work hard.
We cant crack any of the colleges at first go.Very few have got through like that. The rest have tried again and again and only then have gone through. There are people who got rejected by low level collleges and then at last ended up goin to IIMA. I know people like that.
Dont get disheartened by this failure. See where you went wrong and then try again after rectifying your weakness. And when u go to interview analyse the college properly and see what they want.Prepare for that and you will get through.
I had some 5 calls last year but was rejected in all . I tried again this year and got rejected in all expect IIFT . This all comes to a random game of probability. If you attend interview for 10 colleges you wil convert 1. So dont worry .All the best for your next CAT run

I would probably suggest quitting ur job if u really had enough of it. Try joining an NGO and then prepare for CAT at the same time.

As you already have 3 years of experience in IT you must have understood by now that it will be really difficult to switch to non IT jobs unless you have some special non IT skills. Even if you shift in non IT you will have to put in extra efforts to prove yourself.
As per my experience in IT and non IT, i think as far as time is concerned, you can definitely have more time in IT job comparatively. During exam have a word with your TL/PM and arrange for 2/3 week of leave (if possible).
In IT you can form the group in company and have the discussions abt the latest happenings in MBA preparation field.
You can study online. In some companies people even create group and do joint studies in company library (would not mention the company names though)
You can utilize the time you spend in Bus
So i think you will get more time in IT jobs comparatively. Best of Luck.

Quit your job and study fulltime. Give it your best. I was in the same boat. Lateral placement starts from 2+ years of experience and since you already have more than that, quitting your job would be ok.

Had i been in your case, i would have tried again.. If you're in finance/retail/healthcare/banking domain, try to learn something about it, it may be a good value add if one has 2 yr work-ex. ANyways, good luck for future..

I had pretty much the same score pattern as you and needed more time. If you are in a coding job I suggest you try to change ur project to Testing. It is much less stresfull, especially when you come from a coding background and much more analytical if you put your mind to it. And mostly you will be busy only in the end time of the project as usually the dev team takes more time than allocated . Also as the IT market is very gud now, you may be able to find an opportunity. Leaving IT may not be such a good option unless you can give a satisfying reason as to why this shift takes you a step closer to ur MBA goals. And IT ka biggest advantag ye hai ki you have acces to a lot of online resources for prep, whic hmay not be the case elsewhere
Need some advice here. I am in IT (Accenture) and not really sure what to do nxt. I will be completing 3 years of now with Accenture. Not much happy with my work. So far the journey hasn't been too bad. Got good ratings and have also been onshore for a short stint of 4 months. I hav resigned now and have 2 gud offers too.
The confusion I hav is shud I give CAT this year (virtually my last attempt) or shud I wait for a year or 2 and then GMAT. I do not hav too many issues with my current work but I knw I can do better and deserve to be at a better place/position. I had NMIMS admit a year back. Didn't join due to personal reasons. Shud have joined I feel now....... I am not sure what to do now Options:
1) Give CAT and oder exams with full prep (targetting : A,C,B,L, FMS, XL, SPjain n JB). Other colleges wud not really like a studnt with 4 yrs of wrk.ex and it wont really help me further
2) GMAT (looking for 1 yr course and cannot afford a US course so its pretty much ISB and SIngapore....)
