@maitreya said:@nitya.saxena One reason could be availability of rooms. Maybe the PGP batches haven't left for summers yet? BTW: The IIMK letter mentions a written test based on which candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Any idea what that test would be? RAT? Or a subject-based test? Or...?
it may be due to shortage of water as well.. when i went there during april in 2011, we had acute shortage of water ..hence to avoid such hassles for the candidates they may have decide not to give accommodation else it will add more to stress :-)
@caprion said:@steegala ya legally FPM cannot prefix Dr...as it is equivalent to Doctorate for policy purposes...you become a fellow
This is another pain point of FPM and i fail to understand why this differentiation exists? IIMs are the best and govt approved institutions then how come this UGC comes into picture. In summary, say if you want to become professor in State university for management, you are not eligible even after holding FPM from IIMA, but you become eligible after having PhD from a third tier university / college which gives you Phd (including IGNOU degree)!!
@experience123 said:FPM can not write Dr. There is a huge difference due to Dr / FPM. E.g. For securing teaching positions in universities and colleges, UGC mandates that you have a PhD, while private Bschools and even the IIMs will readily appoint both an FPM and a PhD.This is another pain point of FPM and i fail to understand why this differentiation exists? @sb29 - review committee from IIMB has this issue mentioned in their report (2009) . no information available further whether it is fixed or not But as per this report "RC (1991) highlighted that successful candidates were not able to use the prefix 'Dr.'
Also, IIM do not give degree, its classic difference between MBA and PGDM. So, successful candidates can write Fellow but not Dr. if the proposed bill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Institutes_of_Management is passed then this will be resolved.
