For becoming an Affiliate Member, you do not need to pay anything now, Later when you register for the exam, you will need to pay USD 650 or more as per the fee schedule GARP - Registration Fees for the FRM Exam
You can not register for the Nov 2012 exam now since the registration for that will open in June 2012.
Hope this helps.
Hi folks,
I am Deepak, from Mumbai. I am interested in appearing for FRM exam, but not in May. I went to GARP website and it seemed that I can register now as a new student and later on register for exam in Nov.
Can anyone confirm the same? Also, if I register now then I will only have to pay 300, right? and not the full 650.
and congratulation to those who already cleared level I/II of FRM and best of luck for those who are planning to appear in May.
I am planning to take FRM in 2012 (Part I in May and Part II in Nov). Have following queries:
1. Fees for New candidate of FRM part I and part II is: Early registration for FRM = $650 (Enrollment fee + Exam fee). What is the fees only for part I(New candidate)?
2. Students need to pay extra $200-$300 for study materials. Does this include FRM Handbook?
3. Unlike other certifications, there is no specific study materials which garp provide/suggests?
4. Kindly share if any of you have FRM videos, Notes and Q-bank?
Pl. do let me know if anybody is planning to FRM in 2012.
im sorry if this has been asked before......cud not read the entire thread....what does FRM l1 and l2 mean ???when i clear part1 , m i certified equivalent to L1 and if i clear part 1 and part2 is it equivalent to L2
L1, L2 mean Level 1 and Level2. Strictly speaking it should be called Part1 and Part2 as per GARP.
There are 9 sections (to be tested) in FRM which have been divided into two parts - First 4 in Part 1 and remaining 5 in Part 2.
You have to first clear Part 1 to be able to clear Part 2.
Once you pass Part1, you will get a notification but no certificate. Once you pass part2 AND you have atleast 2 years of Risk Management experience, you are "FRM Certified"
Hope this helps.

YES .... u can write the exam ... both levels. BUT .... I also wanna know wat one shud write on his CV if he clears both levels but does not have required work ex.?
In such a case , will GARP issue some sort of confirmation apart from internet result.?

One cannot use FRM degree unless and until he/she has cleared both the levels and has relevant experience for 2 yrs. If one has cleared both the levels but does not have reqd work ex then he can write in his cv stating he has cleared both the levels.
Yes, one may appear and clear both levels. However to be a "Certified FRM" one needs to exhibit atleast two years risk relevant experience.
Till the time you exhibit the experience - one may write on his/her CV
"FRM Program - Passed FRM Exam Part I" or "FRM Program - Passed FRM Exam Part I & Part II" depending on your status.
Hope this helps.

@LeoLazer - Thank you for the response. Coming to the query raised earlier, Is it that difficult to get experience required by FRM? This question stems from the Garp policy that after passing both levels if we don't get relevant work ex within 5 yrs then we need to re-take FRM.
Hows the scene in india for FRM cleared candidates?
@irrationaldream: Me from b'lore and taking FRM may 2012.
This is just a disclaimer to make it time bound, since probably it was observed that candidates just took it very lightly.
