My post got posted multiple times - and I am having problems accessing the site - getting some server / database error.
@Leolazer; thank for the response.
Guys,
Do u think 3.5 months is sufficient for FRM Part I (May 2012)?
Do u have any idea which companies recruit FRM certified ppl in india?
Are they recruiting FRM part I cleared employees also?
Thank you..!

3.5 months is more than enough for FRM part 1 if one is consistent in his studies.
You can get details of top 10 FRM recruiters from GARP site. Some of them are HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Citi, etc.
Unless and until one has work-ex, FRM part I cleared candidates have less chance of getting employed particularly in India. Once one clears both the level, he has good knowledge of Risk Management (Credit, Market, Operational... ) so chances of getting job is high.
If anyone has further/different insight please share.
@niks2206: thank you for the response.
Guys,
Wanted to know the best combination of study material to clear FRM?
There are lot of options available such as Core reading, Handbook, Schweser notes, Bionic turtle videos and Pristine materials.
From previous post on the thread it give an impression that schweser notes are not up to the mark.
Any suggestion and info will be appreciated.
Thank you..!

I used Bionic videos and Schweser notes for level 1.

Hey Niks,
Will use of Schweser notes and bionic videos alone suffice? And whats your openion about the FRM Handbook?

I didn't use Handbook so no idea about it. Schweser notes and Bionic videos were more than sufficient provided you go through schweser notes thoroughly and practice a lot of questions.
hi guys
I have 2 yrs of work ex in Product Development of a product which is directly related to Risk management. So am i eligible for FRM
If not what would you say whether i should PRM instead of FRM?
Agree.
FRM is not a basic qualification so do not expect that. It serves only as a proof of your grasp on RM. At best it is an addon certification. You need basic Finance / Banking degree or experience for FRM to really help you.
The period of preparation is a factor of your background knowledge, your study style (whether you skim through and grasp or study deep basics) and time available etc.
Probably, you can estimate 200 - 300 hours per Part if your finance knowledge is decent.

I relied more on Core readings and supplementary readings although I did use Schweser, BT and Handbook.
My opinion - If you just want to pass the exam (not concentrate on the knowledge and learning) and your Finance knowledge is decent (CFA L1 type), Schweser and BT videos are generally sufficient. A bit of Core readings help a big lot especially in Part1 (like Hull, Stats, Tuckman).
Schweser - Good for Part1, It is a bit insufficient for Part2 and Core readings are veeeery detailed, so you need a balance.
Schweser Qbank - totally insufficient.
Handbook is more helpful in Part1 than Part2, but not as basic reading. Good for revision.
BT - videos are good, notes are so so (David is improving though), but the really helpful part is Practice questions and excel sheets.
Pristine - I attended a few demo lectures and I was not impressed... It was more like coaching classes - no stress on concepts and just exam dissection. I have heard some good things about their question bank but I have not tried it.

GARP requires 2 years of relevant experience (verifiable) to be FRM Certified. You can still pass both parts of FRM without any experience requirement and meantime supplement your profile.
PRM and FRM is a big debate though it is matter of personal choice, convenience, employer preference and geography of target job. We can have an all new thread only on this topic :)

Hi all....i am new to pg and want some guidance....After poor show in CAT, I am planning to take FRM full test this may. As I am working, i will not be able to devote more than 2 to three hours everyday till may 19th. Is this enough to clear both the levels at one go.
I am an engineering graduate and currently working in non financial industry. I want to join investment giants like Goldman, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse etc. Is the FRM certification enough to atleast get an interview call from.
Please help.
