CFA material you get on registration (soft copies only unless you have paid for printed too). Other Schewser like material you can get from the market opposite JNU gate. But be warned their material quality is very poor and some times incomplete from within too. The better hard copy materials are available from Mumbai, the addresses are here in a few messages in the CFA and FRM threads. If you have no problem in studying using softcopies to study then it is available on net at quite a few places, just google for it and download. Hope it helps.

Here are some answers to a few questions asked to me in a private message. These might be helpful to others also.
1) if Financial Risk Management course from GRAP will be useful? 2) Is this course recognized by the Indian companies? 3) What is the total duration of the course and can it be done with full time job? 4) It the test objective or subjective in nature and where are there examination centers in Delhi? 5) Will the course material be provided by GARP?
1) This is subjective and depends a lot on your previous education and work experience. FRM is not a "qualification" degree like CFA or MBA, it is more of a exhibition of skill - saying that "hey look! I know some Risk Management"
2) There is no official circular of recognition though companies (even banks) have started asking for FRM / PRM qualified people in job advts. Sometimes a US client would ask for a FRM for a project and an IT company might "hunt" for a suitable resource or sponsor an existing employee.
3) No official duration - you just have to clear 2 parts (exams). Though the gap between the 2 parts cannot be more than 4 years. There are no "contact classes" - You have to self study and appear.
4) The exam will be objective in nature - MCQ type. It is expected that there will be two test centers in Delhi - one in north delhi and one in south delhi.
5) Yes you can "buy" the course material from GARP, the cost of which is separate - not included in the fees. You may also source the material and some helper material from outside.
I had ordered Schweser Notes and Handbook from Laxmi Printers. He sent it but the quality of the photocopy was very poor - either there were blotches on the graphs or the print was too light to read. On complaining to Mansoor at Laxmi Printers, he offered to exchange it once I send the bad material to him. He offered to refund the courier cost that I would incur in sending the material back to him. However, once I sent the material back to him at a personal cost of Rs 350, he stopped responding and refused to send the material. I called him numerous times and emailed to them - but no response. It ultimately wasted a lot of my time trying to talk to him again and again.
My experience - Very Poor quality of photocopy - Cheating attitute of the people involved.
Please be very beware of dealing with low quality, cheating people like Laxmi Printers.
There are other very good options available.
Hope this warns others and they are not cheated and harassed like me!

Surprising. I thought thier material quality was excellent. Almost like a new book. Prompt delivery. Mine was delivered in 2 parts. Once he brought the wrong one and I returned it to him. (Although I checked it then and there I didn;t courier it back to him)
Even I was given the impression that he has very good quality. His quoted price was also the highest among Om and Mahakali.
But the reality turned out to be entirely different.
My mistake was to courier the material back to him at my cost, but I am based in Bangalore (not Mumbai) - So no choice but to get the material and then check.

The syllabus does change every year to reflect the changing financial world scenario more so since this is a professional qualification rather than an academic one. (Refer to my earlier post on a detailed comparison of 2010-2011 syllabus.)
Schweser and Bionic Turtle offer good notes and lectures for the preparation. In addition, there are some institutes like Pristine, IQF etc that also perpare you for the exams.
This will give you an idea of the syllabus and the course material GARP - Study Materials
The calculator to be used is similar to the one required for CFA - the cost may be 2000-3000 or so and it is readily available in India. (Refer to my earlier post on the details.)
Read this thread completely and you will get more pointers regarding material and preparation and many answers to questions that may be in your mind.

I have read in few posts that syllabus of FRM keeps on changing...so does that mean I have to buy the books just before my examination...are there no standard books avilable in India for this examination? Which books did you used for this examination?
Atlast if you can give me the approx cost for this certification in INR, as if I decide to enroll for it, will go in for May 2012 examination. ( I also read some where that even some specific calculator has to be purchased, which again are quite expensive and not sure if available in India!!
Can I get to see the course material from somewhere ( online books or something) and sample question to check if it is my cup of tea!

Guys this is a silly question but I need to ask that how much time it will take for preparing FRM L2 exam? I have enrolled for Nov L1 exam and also want to clear L2 but have not decided abt it so didn't registered for it. Presently I have not covered entire L1 syllabus. Should I give L2 exam this nov or next year? I am CFA L2 candidate also and a second yr student of one of the top 20 B-Schools in India. Thats why if I dont give FRM L2 exam this nov then I will have to give it next year Nov as in June I will be giving CFA L2 exam.

Happy to know it helped you. Sincerely hope you are able to do it in June 2012 as your FRML1 studies (in terms of continuity of thoughts and foundation, specially in quant being frsh) and the simultaneous preparation for CFA L2 will supplement your efforts. But then you have to see how much load you can take and time you can afford to devote for each for assured success too. Best wishes for your L1 preparation and success.
