I am a Chartered Accountant, and am considering studying for FRM, as i think it will open avenues for me in the Banking Industry. I am essentially interested in BASEL II.
If anyone from Delhi is considering FRM for 2011, please PM me and lets plan how to go about studying! :)

FRM syllabus is quite extensive and covers various aspects of risk management in a structured manner. It will overlap with several concepts that you cover in MBA (if you are specialising in Finance that is). So two pluses for a Finance student to do MBA 1. In-depth knowledge of the subject 2. Good value add to CV
In case you are studying in NIBM, then FRM will certainly give you an edge. Though, I must say that it may not be a game changer in your career but certainly a value add.

I am targeting FRM L1 in 2011. If anyone can share a bit of info regarding the preparation as to how much time should be given for the preparation and which material should be followed, it would be of great help.
Hi.. I am MBA - finance graduate and has an experience of 5 years in Mutual fund industry. I am planning to take FRM exam in May 2011. I need guidance for the following queries... 1) There is an institute of quantitative finance which prepares for FRM exam in India - does it make sense to do the training from them?? Or the Schweser material is enough?? 2) Is it better to take both the levels together or one by one?? 3) How beneficial it would be wrt my background??

2009 edition is good enough as that was the year when the FRM exam was split into two levels... so from a syllabus point of view, the notes should suffice. However, both Schweser and Bionic Turtle would update their notes each year with additional questions and also questions from the recent FRM exams.. Make sure that you can get your hands on these from some where... Registering for the exam itself gives u access to some sample papers on GARP.
Is any special scientific or financial calculator necessary for FRM L 1 ? I am new to this course , so would want you guys to help me out.

Scientific calculator is not allowed. All have to use financial calculators only.. There are two models in use... 1 is by (BA-II Professional) Texas Instruments which is used by majority of the people... and the other is by HP (12c I think)... if you are referring to Schweser and if you havent bought 1 calculator by now, then I recommend you to buy Texas Instruments... In case u have already bought HP, then no need to change over to Texas Instruments.
I have an experience of 5 years with the Mutual fund industry and I am planning to take FRM coming May - June 2011. Is my experience relevant to be a part of FRM charter?? Or I will need to have experience with risk management department only?? Please clarify.. Thanks
i am a fresher engg and doing my MBA in finance. Am i allowed to appear for FRM-MAY 2011???
