well mostly people just read the core reading pack and the schweser notes and that seems to be enough and for coaching i think prisitine careers is good but it might vary from city to city

U should know topics like correlation , regression , hypothetical testing. Schweser is enough for preparation.

Hey Guys,

I am not sure if i am digressing from an existing discussion. I am currently working as a senior analyst with an analytics/consulting firm after my mba from a reputed b school.

My problem is my zilch confidence in finance during my MBA, but still want to take a shot at FRM. so basically 2 questions

1) How much does it take to get through the exam and d certification considering my lesser grades in Finance subjects

2) Is it beneficial for people in the analytics sector ?

Any inputs welcome !!

Thanks !

Hi,

I would suggest go through the initial few posts by Tumtum in same thread. He has beautifully explained why should anyone take this course and how FRA being specialized risk management course differs from financial research & analysis field. You will get the answers for your both questions.

guhaprashanth,
you can get the core readings from Laxmi Xerox, mumbai. Google and you should be able to get their numbers. They provide Schweser material as well. I did not go to classes. To begin with I started with Hull. Once I
started understanding Hull well I went for the other core readings. But as I said before I did not have much time to prepare. I first heard of the FRM exam only in march this year. At that point it appealed to me. Finally when I got down to preparing for it I had just once month. So I relied entirely on Schweser. But as I said before it is better to prepare from core readings as GARP's questions were very fundamental.

I would say Hull is a bible for financial practitioners.
