hi,i am new to pg. preparing for cat 10.
i have few queries,
1. i want to do mba in finance.i am from engineering background. which course should i go for out of the above mentioned courses i.e. out of frm/prm cfa.i have no knowledge about them.
2 how about ncfm courses.are they beneficial.i want to build my profile.
3. should i go for these courses now,during mba or after mba.which is the right time for these courses.
4. will doing these courses add value to my mba degree.please help.

1) plz check an above post of mine where i have spoken of prm/frm and cfa

2)ncfm courses are good for knowledge, u can do a couple of them b4 joining mba, they dont add much value to the profile though

3)cfa, prm/frm will seriously add a lot of value to your profile, but u need to remember that u need to put a lot of effort in these courses and a lot of money is also involved. so take ur decision wisely

I am giving my frm part 1 exam in nov 2010. Just have few ques. I am a MBA from BITS Pilani and have around 4.5 yrs of exp in Investment banking in a BPO - forex and derivatives. I took a break of around 2.5 yrs due to marriage and a kid. so am not working right now and I dont want a bpo job again.

My mathematical skills are good and I have good knowledge abt the whats in the course so with some help from the schewer notes I am confident abt passing the part 1. (could u tell me where to purchase these notes from bangalore/chennai)

What are my chances of getting a good job? Please let me as this is very important to me.

u can buy from laxmi copy center in mumbai. u just need to call him and he will courier it to u. his no should be somewhere in this thread or the cfa thread. and abt getting a job, well i think some more experienced puys should tell tht

Hi Puys,

I am also considering FRM/PRM this Nov. Just in a fix which one to go for ? FRM is more recognised, PRM is damn flexible. One moot question I have for those puys who are experienced in this, are recruiters also more aware about FRM? or in other words - Is PRM not very famous among recruiters?

I myself am going to take PRM exam 2 next week, so i might not be the right person to ans this still, the thing is PRM is relatively new considered to FRM as it started in 2002 while frm started a in the 90s, so thts the main reason people in india dont know about prm tht much. but with implementation of basel 2 i think tht gap is closing very fast and i believe there are more prm holders globally than frm. and for u as u have got 10+yrs work ex, i believe prm/frm anything will be good for ya
