Readings for the FRM are now available. PM me for the details.
Authors: Ren M. Stulz, Richard Apostolik.
A query here too: How many years of work-ex. are required to qualify for appearing for these papers?
Will work-ex. in finance any field do, or specifically required in Financial Risk Management?

Work experience is NOT required to qualify for the exam, even freshers can take the exam. BUT 2 years of relevant work experience is required to get the FRM certification. (provided you pass the exam)

Hi,
Can somebody answer following questions ?
1) What is the cutoff ? I know it's on percentile basis but still any vague estimate about the number of questions we need to correct out of 70 questions in each paper ?
2) Is there any sectional cut off i.e. different cutoff for each topic mentioned in study guide ?
3) Do they mention topic wise marks in final certificate ?
Thanks,
Sandeep
Hey,
Any idea on how strict the FRM conductors are on calculators??
Is it necessary that we should carry only the calculators mentioned in the GARP website?? I own a CASIO Scientific Calculator. Can any one throw light on this please.
I think the previous batch people will have some idea on this. Please share.

Hi - can u educate me as in what is core reading ? I have handbook (Jorian) & schweser. Is it okay to study from just two ?
Also how different is FRM 2009 different from FRM 2008 material ?
Sumeet
FRM 2009 is way diff frm FRM 2008... in FRM 2008 dere were just 5 topics. whereas FRM 2009 has 9 topics...
n come on man.. just 20 days r left.. u shudnt even think of picking up core readings now.. just do schweser n jorion... n hey dnt frget to see d CD of both.. solve deir questions.. really great fr checking d fundamentals...
Hi I am doing my MBA from national insurance academy in pune,i wanted to know which course will suit me more FRM or CFA since i would be getting a MBA in insurance.
@ All : Hi Guys , FRM 2009 is over 😁 Hope you ppl have done a rocking job ..!! Please if you could provide some insights on this FRM journey it would be mighty helpful..SOme points u could touch upon is when did u start preparations, when is the ideal time to start prep for L1/L2 May 2010, materials to read from i.e schwezer + Jorion/ Core?, hours per day to study etc etc..Just put in anything that u feel would be helpful for an aspirant :D
Thanks...
L1 paper was tough...no doubt! the feeling is deeper coz i hav taken CFA L1 earlier... and that was a cake walk
seems i expected too much from GARP...or rather shud i say i didn't
anyway, Schweser is not sufficient..that's the outcome of the whole exercise :)
but what is...nobody knows 😞 seems GARP really likes testing concepts...and u bet it does well...

Completely agree... schweser is definitely not enough.. The questions at the end of each chapter in Schweser are definitely misleading 😛 I was thinking that 2 hrs is a bit too long for 50 qns (level 1). I couldn't have been more wrong.
I am just hoping for a miracle now to help me clear L1. Btw.. In Chennai around 125 candidates wrote full exam and only 35 candidates wrote L1. I guess this would have been the trend elsewhere as well. So clearing the exam might be difficult since they consider the average score of the top 5 percentile getters.
at mumbai: 1500 full exam takers and 250 L1 takers
Hi all,
Took the full exam on 21st, and the FRM exam did live up to its expectations. The AM session was pretty tough compared to the PM session. But overall the difficulty level of the exam was on the higher side as it is always.
My CFA L1 knowledge came to the rescue in few of the questions in PM session. After giving the exam I can firmly say that Schwesers Material alone are not sufficient to pass the exam. They miss out on many stuff or rather put it this way, FRM tests you on the things not present in the Schwesers notes
FRM exam really tests on the concepts and they perform their job pretty well. My advice to fellow puys who want to crack the FRM exam in future, do refer to core readings or if you cant do that then atleast read Bionic turtle notes/questions by David Harper in addition with Schwesers notes. This will increase the chances of passing the exam and also help in understanding the concepts better.
Best of luck to all for the results 😁

I am not really in a position to answer your question because the results are not out yet and I don't know how I exactly fared. However, I can tell you what all material I referred. I studied the Schwesers material/sample papers of previous years, gave a fast reading to Bionic Turtle Notes/Questions, did last year GARP papers (2001, 2002...etc), I have also passed CFA L1 so my CFA knowledge also helped me in the exam in 1-2 questions about which I studied no where during my FRM preparation.
FYI people till last year did pass by just studying Schwesers notes and am sure people will continue to 'pass' by just reading Schwesers. Its more about the comfortable level and luck factor if you just study from Schwesers.
Hope it helps and I pass the exam
@Neeraj : Where do we get Bionic turtle material??? Do we need to order it on their website or is there some place in Delhi where we can get it , just like we get Schwezer ..
