Well i'm a CA n jus got aware of this course FRM. I kinda feel interested in doing it. I've visited the GARP website but im still unclear as to how to approach this examination & this whole course as such.
I would need clarity with respect to the following:-
1- Is this course worth doing it?? like does it have any value as such & in what sense??
2- How does one go about studying for this exam (Part 1)??? ***
3- What is the criteria for passing such an exam?? (what is the BASIS of passing such an exam…like is there any min. marks or so)
4- And are 2 months enough for this exam (i'm planning to appear in Nov '13 for Part 1)???
*** in continuation to this point...i am absolutely clueless about studying for this exam...like -
a- what books shall i refer??? evybody mentions Kaplan. But is it really enough?? Is it important to go through the material provided by GARP also??? and also is it important to refer notes & practice questions /question bank / video??? anything else to refer to??
b- with which subject shall i start first?? n how will the exam be- in the sense all 4 subjects would be asked under different heads in the exam or will it be mixed??
I am appearing for Nov-13 part 1 exam. Anyone interested in forming a study group in Mumbai ? I have good practical experience in financial derivative products from my work.

Have completed Part 1 book 1, CAPM is quite interesting, though, the Schweser notes does not have much clarity on this topic, a little confusing because they just provide the abstract of the theory. So, for me who is studying CAPM first time, it gets difficult. I am very much looking forward to start the Quantitative Analysis this week. Can anyone recommend which financial calculator should I get for FRM exam ? It should be regular one not much expensive.
Has anyone purchased GARP original material for Part 1? Calculating now it'd cost around Rs. 17500 (dollar @ 70) for part 1. Does anyone know if the material is available in India so that we can save a little on the shipping fee. Also someone asked that there are no answers provided to the questions in the original GARP material, so where do we get the detailed answers to those questions. I know that free practice tests are available for the members..but what about the questions from inside the orginal GARP material??

Hello Puys! Just wanted to know if we can use a normal casio calculator in the FRM exam rather than the ones listed on the garp website under the calculator policy which is restricted to Texas and HP only. Since I havent used a high end financial calculator like Texas BA2 plus professional i'd also like to know if its even worth the money? What does it do extra than a Casio fx series calculator? Are we allowed only Texas or HP calcs listed on the website?
Only the following types of business calculators are authorized for use on the FRM Exam. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Should a candidate use a non-authorized calculator at any time during the exam, a violation report will be written and your answer sheets will not be graded.
