Hi Guys,
I have enrolled for MS Finance .I was supposed to appear for Group Alpha in Jan but was not able to give the exams so now I will be appearing for Group Alpha in April.I have completed Paper I of Fin Accounts.
Can someone advise :---
1.If its possible to clear both the grops (alpha and beta)in April coz i just have 2 months for the preparation.
2.The stratergy to be applied for understanding the concept faster..right now my study pattern is that i go through a chapter once and re-visit the same to understand the concepts.and finally solve workbook. This takes lot of my time.I almost spent 25 days for accounting standards.

I have seen in one of the orkut forum that ICFAI is not giving CFA charter after completing Delta. It seems the council has decided to give it only after completing MS (Finance). Is that true? if that is the case, it has become very unpredictable as to ICFAI's regulations as they are changing the rules of the game every now and then. They will definitely loose the trust of the student community. Eventhough i personally like the course, ICFAI's constant changes are making restless. It looks like as they are in deep mess with their legal battles and confusing the students with their changes in regulations. Any one has any idea on this?

Someone spreaded the rumours last week that CFA charter regulations have changed. It is not correct and the person who has spreaded the rumours has also apologies at orkut.
The rules are same- You get CFA after clearing 16 papers (delta) and masters in finance after clearing all 36 papers (sigma).
About the battle for CFA trademark. Dont worry. ICFAI is safe and on strong footing in India. There is a hearing on march 26, 2008 and this is the reason they are delaying in sending CFA charters.

It seems that ICFAI has not released the charters since it changed the norms for the award of charter.
Everytime I request for updates, ICFAI comes up with the reply that 'the award of charter is yet to be approved by the board.'
I wonder how long will it take for the board to approve!

I hope u don't mind putting my 2cents here.
You can check about your preparation, prior to taking the exam, by solving the previous exam question papers.
It will be difficult to comment on your capabilities. You could clear both the groups provided you attain the confidence of solving the question papers on your own. This is not very easy for everyone, and you would be your best judge!
My take is 'be thorough with all the concepts in the text book as well as the workbook, as most of the concepts have real life applications'. The applications would be more evident when you eventually take up a job.

hi.. i have cleared uptil delta... dont waste too much time over study materiel.. just solve all the preveious 3-4 years question papers properly/... see the solutions behind and keep re doing them... you'll clear it easily.. i cleared gamma and delta together in the same way///

If you are doing CA, just focus on CA and plan to finish it in 3-4 years time including 3 yrs articleship.
CA has 16 papers while ms finance has 36 papers. Ms finance can turn out to be a horrible nightmare with 4 papers to prepare in 2 months time.
Stick to CA , take coaching and try to clear it.

after reading u r post i changed my mind, now i m thinking to do CA IF NOT able to clear in may08 i will join MS FIN for october exam.
