🐈 CAT Exam 2020-21 Preparation, Exam Dates, Results & Discussion – PaGaLGuY (Part 1)

Congratulations Everyone! 😊

After rejections by XLRI and IIM-K, I was feeling quite down, and was honestly very nervous of facing the other results.

Today, I got a straight convert from IIM-C, and honestly it hasn't sunk in yet. The reaction of my family made everything, all the work I put in, absolutely worth it.

Hoping to meet some amazing people there, spending hopefully what will be the best 2 years of my life.

P.S. - Would like to know how much money we need to pay for seat confirmation, thanks.

I thought i had a fairly good IIM C interview and now WL at 81(obc). What are my chances?

Is IMT Ghaziabad send offer letter again after all IIMs results will out?

After rejections from Xlri, K and S, I have been waitlisted under open category for IIMC(On the borderline, but I trust my luck.) I still have FMS' and L's calls, but considering how I overestimated my communication skills, I doubt if I would convert either. Profile: 10.0/95/76 fresher commerce male I didn't had a plan B prior to the result season but now I am reconsidering. I have converted IIM I, but I believe I can do better. Is it worth taking the drop for the year and appearing again? I had the privilege of lockdown last year but I doubt if I would be able to afford that kind of time again. Also, I live in a city with little to no job opportunities from the relevant fields and nor does my current college conduct placement drives. Would really like to hear from people who had been through similar situation.

Game. Set. Match. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta converted. Thank you all for being a part of this journey. It would not have been possible without your support.

Anty bunty Shunty karna padega kya Lucknow se result nikalwane ke liye. Even my so called imaginary GF won't show such tantrums. 😡😠

Does the L in IIML stand for late?

1st convert of the season DOMS IISC.. Thru all the struggles and hurdles bt finally made it

I have a convert from C after being waitlisted by A (borderline case). In case I do convert lucknow and FMS, what should my order of preference be? Before suggesting the commonly accepted order of preference, please keep my profile in mind (80+ in 10th and 12th and only 55 in undergrad). I have a 3yr work ex but it is in a totally irrelevant field. Considering my shit profile, where do I have the least work cut out for me. The goal is to get a good job post MBA

Heard smwhere about C not giving out any buffer calls this time.. what effect will it have on WL movement?

C was sure shot yesterday, but due to some technical glithes they released today. So yeah !!

Hey Guys,

I have been waitlisted at IIM Kozhikode. My waitlist number is in the 80s in GEN category. Will I convert? If yes, in which list?

(Also, I will be grateful if someone could comment the approx time frame/date by which I can expect the waitlist in which I may convert)

Thanks!

Not so fancy AIWTSAC of a not so above average engineer

So why MBA? (No not the story I told my interviewers). It started right in my second year when I was interning in the biggest forging industry in Asia, I don’t know about its legacy but that’s when I decided mechanical engineering is definitely not my cup of tea. Fast forward to June 2020 that’s when I started preparing for CAT. I would’ve loved to expound on my journey of preparation but the fact is that its just average, pretty much common for all CAT aspirants (Write mocks- get sad over PG scores-repeat). Let’s just say that those efforts translated and I was pretty happy after getting CAT scores (mistake no 1 of an oblivious GEM fresher). So, before the initial shortlist season began our college had started the placement season and I was pretty much confident of securing a job as a backup option (mistake no 2 of an oblivious GEM fresher), so that confidence or over confidence died down pretty quick as I kept getting rejected by all the companies that I appeared interviews for and that’s when IIM ABKLI also decided to not offer me a chance to appear for their interviews, was I shattered? Yeah, pretty much but that’s when I decided I would whole heartedly prepare for the only call I have IIM C. Simultaneously I kept appearing for job interviews and I was still getting rejected (12-13 so far) and that’s when I accepted the fact that maybe I just suck at giving interviews and this new fear started to dawn on me, what if I run out of options? Being jobless and IIMs delaying their results just made it worse.

Fast forward to results, Shillong was the first result that was pertinent to me, the verdict? I was handed out a direct reject and that’s when all my collective fears started to take control over me and I was completely depressed(@sanchit3008 would know), but then I guess fate had something else in store for me and I was waitlisted at XLRI JSR BM (WL 24) (edit 1:- converted) the very same night, I was happy that at least now I had something to fall back on the very thing that I wanted from the very beginning but somewhere in my heart I wasn’t elated because it wasn’t IIM C.

18th of May, I don’t think I will ever forget this date, I checked my phone and realised that IIM C results have been declared, I was literally shaking while typing my credentials and that was the single moment of happiness that I had strived for I got waitlisted (WL 13)(edit 2:- converted) this time I wasn’t just happy I was elated.

There are many people on PG who have inspired me to keep going whether it be mock CAT scores or whether it be interview preparations but I would like to mention select few @sanchit3008, @Akainu, @ashketchum7, @SachinAg, @pavans79 , @silvi_mittal, @souptikkar a huge thank you for being there.

SO now that I look retrospectively mistake no 1 and 2 weren’t exactly mistakes but were blessings in disguise.

Thanks for reading,I would love to give back to this beautiful community in any way I can, just DM me.

Hey Puys, feels good to be back on the platform after a long time.

Finally the top B-School results are out and I have converted IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and have been waitlisted at 39 in IIM Calcutta.

Being from a tier 2/3 pvt engg college , having <12 months workex and nothing to show on the extracurricular front all of this feels like a dream and the feeling is surreal.

What started as a dream 1.5 years ago has finally turned into reality ❤

All those sleepless nights, countless mocks, sectionals finally paid off. Thanks everyone for being a part of this memorable journey. Congratulations to all the converts and all the best to the people looking to reattempt. May all our dreams come true❤

First Post here.

It was a long journey battling anxiety and getting through everything else that followed.

Got IIMC result today. Waitlisted. Very bleak chances. Disappointing but I don't mind anymore.

Current best convert is Kozhikode. L and FMS awaited.

The anticipation of results is over for me now and it's almost pack up. Wrote all about it here: https://yuckhill.medium.com/all-i-wanted-to-say-about-cat-d342b3a63127

Edit 1: Got straight reject from FMS. Converted L. So, currently I end up with the best convert being with a PI where I answered everything incorrectly except my own name.

Edit 2: Converted IIMC

A and B both have freshers and people with work-ex.

Yeh 8-10% upar neeche se kya farak padta hai.

As seniors said, iss baat se GHANTA farak nahi padne wala. Most Companies (esp. MBB) do not care about type of work-ex.

(For Bangalore: 20% of the batch is freshers)

Hi everyone!

Firstly, congratulations to all the people who roared in Cat'20 and showed resilience during their PIs to get the colleges they truly deserved. It's a beautiful sight to witness such positivity.

Secondly, since I will be giving Cat this year, I wanted to get some idea regarding it from you all. I don't have a clear idea which all colleges should I be targetting due to my below average academics (7/8/6) with approx 11 months of workex by the end of this year. I'm a general non-engineer.

It brings a sense of clarity towards the direction I should be treading and the final goal(s) I should be targeting.

How much percentile will I need to get calls from BLACKIS?

91.2/87.8/75.11, GCF, Fresher
