Hi every1.Gave my CAT today.It went pretty ok 😃 .

Sec 1 - 26 attempts (expecting 90%+ accuracy)

Sec 2 - 27 attempts (no idea)

Found Quant to be on the easier side.DI and LR were very time consuming.Verbal was fine, except for the very long paragraph completion questions.Attempted 2 RCs which were moderately difficult.To sum up, i left one DI set(3 questions- time consuming), one question from Time and distance, one RC (3 questions-had no time left )

It's not a great performance, but i'm satisfied 😃

@Kevin88 Rakesh and I gave the test at the same centre.Both of us got the same questions(except 3 or 4 ).He attempted about the same number of questions as i did.i'm sure he'll post the xperience as well.

So after a long wait i am done with my chase! Unlike last few days today the pitch became something of a batting paradise.

Section 1
QA
A total of 21 questions predominated by numbers and geometry.(almost 10-12 qustions)
Remaining questions were from Averages, log, mixtures, functions, graphs, progressions....)
CAT din even allow T&D;, T&W;, P&C;, prob to bowl their quick deliveries at me.
I am morally not satisfied with this act of IIM K in framing a question paper from very few areas leaving many important ones untouched. Last year even though the paper was conceptually weaker than this years paper, all the topics had made their presence in the paper. Anyways i attempted all 21 here and hoping for 90+ accuracy here.
DI
I was expecting a calculation rich DI caselets with %, tables, venn diagrams , charts etc.
CAT avidem enne pattichu!! There were 3 caselets with 3 questions each. One was a pure LR set(similar to those in Time AIMCATS) where some datas are given and you have to formulate a point chart based on the gven datas. Other one was pure logic based where u have to find out the missing values in a matrix table. Minor calculation only is required here. i was left with 5 mins when i finished these 2 sets which i felt insufficient to complete the third set. So i dint even read the question and spend those 5 mins i those QA questions where i had some doubt initially. Attemted 6 in DI.
Overall in Section 1 i attempted 27 questions

Section 2

LR
The only section where the difficulty level matched with my prejudice. It was time consuming as discussed everywhere in the last few days. But it was solvable too. The only difference it made with the TIME/CL procs is that here you have to consider the options given in the question for a better solution. Otherwise you will end up wasting too much of time. I took around 25 mins for solving 9 questions and hope all are correct.

VA
Surprisingly i did one of the easiest RC ever during my last one year of preparation today.
It was followed by easy straight forward questions. Another one was of moderate difficulty level. Third one i which i struggled to comprehend was left unanswered. A total of 6 attempts out of 10 RC questions. Remaining 11 VA questions were more or less at par with the mock papers we practiced from. Not very difficult but with some close tricky options. attempted 8 out of 11 (left sentence correction and one from idioms)
Overall in Section 2 - 23 attempts (Hopeful of 5-6 negatives though)
Special thanks to @rohan_bhasker for droping me at the bus stand on the way back. As today the private bus owners in kerala played a spoil sport i was left with no other options other than getting a KSRTC.
My hearty wishes to all those who have given CAT already and to those who are yet to give.
Stay motivated till the end of the season. You never know where your actual destiny is. CAT is just one among those entry check. A lot more to follow in the coming few months. NMAT, IIFT, SNAP, XAT. etc...

I dont have much to post regarding my NMAT experience because like everyone i also attempted all 120 and leaving the rest to GOD for a better accuracy. Listing down few things which i fell is worth mentioning.

1) Overall paper is not that easy as depicted by time and CL in their mock papers.
2) its more of a test of your accuracy, speed and concentration rather than your conceptual depth and logic.
3)DI was calculation intensive thereby time consuming. So a presence of mind is required there to pick the best among the lot. Out of 48 questions in quant section, if you are able to get around 25 correct, you are through. So leave the tricky one and focus on sitters.
4)LR section treated me with more than 50 % questions from critical reasoning. So a better understanding of those questions before the test will make the job easier. "Verbal and non verbal reasoning by RS Aggarwal" gives detailed explanation and examples for all those unfamiliar sets. Remaining questions were pure LR caselets that can be solved easily.
5) Verbal section was comparatively easier than last year. But the time constraint of 22 mins for attempting 32 questions is the catch. And you have to get around 20 questions correct for clearing the cut off.!
Thats it! I am waiting for my result which is expected by next week. Hope i clear the verbal cut off this time! All the best for NMAT takers!! 😃

@raku1989 Which institute's mocks are on par with the actual NMAT ? TIME or CL ?
Is there any break between the sections ? How were the RCs - did you read the passage and attempt or did it without reading ?

i prefer iNMAT by testfunda to TIME AIMNMAT. I din give any CL ones.So cannot comment much on it. No, there is no break between the sections. Here you have to be a bit careful. Because at the end of each section we will get a screen where we have to tap next to start answering. But the timer would have started clocking already which will be unnoticed by most of us. So dont waste time between the sections.

RCs i am not the kind of person to advice you. But i suggest you to do it at the end of VA section. There were a lot of 8 questions from 2 RCs. I did only 1 set where i spent some 4 mins to read the passage and 2-3 mins in answering 4qns. Time was a big constraint for me in VA section.

@raku1989 Thanks. None of my friends are writing NMAT. So, they gave me their mocks. Have TIME, CL and IMS's mocks. Test Funda's is free. Totally i have 12 mocks. I prepared a schedule. Lets see how well it works out.

P.S. Already took 2 of them. 170 in AIMNMAT and 240 in CL mock.

P.P.S. Judging by the number of attempts of the rest of the people who took CAT today, both you and rohan have performed extremely well. You have done your part. Rest is upto GOD/normalisation.

I was little tensed from the morning itself .....

Reached 1 hour before .
Sec 1

Was really really tensed from the moment I sat in front of the system , Started the test , left some quesrions halfway , half an hour over , only 7 or 8 attempts as of now , panic situation . more tension ... at the last moment attempted a DI , was simple , but dont know if I made any mistakes ...
total attempts 15 -20 , was afraid of counting my attempts ...

all the 3 DIs were easy. One DI was reasoning based , was so simple .,but had a 2 page explanation

My review of paper -- 20 would have been good I guess .. I think it was of medium to difficult level (again its my view , might be wrong as I was tensed)

Sec 2

one set LR done in 3 mins... Another set was easy , again I wasted a lot of time ...3rd LR didnt attempt fully as it was syllogism / implication type with 5 -8 sentences ....

RC's was tough , a new type of ques was there ( wat shud be the follow up ques / what ques u will ask the author) , answer options testing your vocabulary ...

attempts , around 20 I guess , again here I didnt count


I should have kept my calm ... no use of saying now .... dont know what will happen....
