Dude I would recommend you to join NM only for its flagship Core MBA program. Besides, I'm sure you would get a better B-school 😃
Last year, they had very short interviews, so dunno what all the profs were looking for, but in my year and all the previous years, it was definitely your acads that they were looking for. Be thorough with couple of your subjects in Engg as well as your engg project. Somehow profs here give a lot of importance.

hello everybody. i'm varatharaj doing pre final year in mechanical engineering in coimbatore(tamilnadu).Right from the day i know about cat i started dreaming being an IIM er! MBA is my passion. im preparing for CAT 2013. As i was from a lower middle class background i cant afford to pay the coaching class fee. now iam preparing for CAT using the books from my college library. but those books are really confusing and deviated from the actual CAT questions.i dont have a pc too. so i cant refer any online materials. i spend 4 hours daily for preparing CAT. my friend advised me that 4 hours of such preparations=1 hour of preparation by using standard materials like TIME,IMS. i went to TIME and ask them whether i can get the materials alone for a cheaper price. they said they will provide material only along with a course. and that course costs 20000! i was heart broken! i desperately need some standard books. i would be greatly thankful if someone is will to donate extra materials or old materials! PG is my only hope. so please help me! thank you all
@varathawins Dude, first of all, let me be very frank. Don't make MBA your passion. That is the lamest and dumbest thing you can ever do in your life. I can understand you wanting to be in an IIM, as many in PG wants to be, but don't make it your sole focus.
As you have said, you are from a middle class background, my suggestion would be to get good grades in your engg and if possible get into a good job. You can always take an MBA at a later stage of your career. Now that was my advice part.
I know a lot of people in my campus as well as friends across IIMs who have never use any material from TIME or IMS or anyplace. Yes, I have taken their classes, but then, I have not used it much. I believe if you use a book like RS Agarwal for Quant or something, I believe that should be sufficient. And that is a book, that will be available in your library. Try to work upto level 2-3 in the book, and you should be able to crack most exams.
There might be some guys who will be willing to share their material with you, but I believe you will have to search elsewhere.

IMT GD and interview was good. This DCP was my second preference after FT. So FT convert will depends on WL movement.

@jai89 Ya through CAT score itself. And i work for L&T; in bangalore. I dont think IMT care much about our profile. May be my GDPI score would have gone down.
