Hi Kevin,Welcome to the group.
By the way,we already have something in common-Our Aimcat Score :grin:
Thanks a lot Rohan...

Btw, two years in the race has taught me not to get attached too much on scores especially the ones in the beginning. Its all about temperament & peaking at the right time :biggrin:
Thats where the importance of a good peer group comes...
Puys it would be a great help if we all can chip in & start posting new methods/obscure topics & problems (as rohan earlier suggested) we encounter,during our preps...
Cheers!!!

Sure kev.I'm just waiting 4 my university xams 2 finish.June 5-THE WAR BEGINS
.
Let me start the ball rolling
:
Concept 1: Calenders & Dates
(P.S : All concepts posted are courtesy of numerous threads & from the extraordinary help of puys in PG
)
Zeller's Rule : With this technique named after its founder Zeller, you can solve any 'Dates and Calendars' problems (including leap years)
Zellers rule can be used to find the day on any particular date in the calendar in the history. All you have to know is the formula given below and how to use it.
Zeller's Rule Formula:
F = K + [(13xM - 1)/5] + D + [D/4] + [C/4] - 2C
K = Date => for 25/3/2009, we take 25
In Zellers rule months start from march.
M = Month no. => Starts from March.
March = 1, April = 2, May = 3
Nov. = 9, Dec = 10, Jan = 11
Feb. = 12
D = Last two digits of the year => for 2009 = 09
C = The first two digits of century => for 2009 = 20
Example: 25/03/2009
F = 25 + [{(13 x1)- 1}/5] + 09 + 09/4 + 20/4 - (2 x 20)
= 25 + 12/5 + 09 + 09/4 + 20/4 - 2x20
=25+2+09+2+5-40
[ We will just consider the integral value and ignore the value after decimal]
= 43 - 40 = 3
Replace the number with the day using the information given below.
1 = Monday
2 = Tuesday
3 = Wednesday
4 = Thursday
5 = Friday
6 = Saturday
7 = Sunday
So it's Wednesday on 25th march, 2009.
If the number is more than 7, divide the no. by 7. The remainder will give you the day. ![]()

Hello !
I cleared MAY MAT with a score of 691.5(92.45%).I have an option to apply to SCMS COCHIN for its PGDM.Should I believe the newspaper statistics about the college?Should I apply?Is it worth to go for it?Is it nationally reputed.I completed my B.tech in 2010 but passed in 2011.I have no work experience.Is SCMS really a good B school?Should I wait for next year admissions?CAT can give me better choices but my history is not good.academic gap of one year formally and 2 yrs (unofficial,due to arrears)and no work exp.Is it wise to wait for next year?I need to do take a wise decision which will neutralise the problems with my past academic records after 10th.Kindly help.Also,if I wait for CAT,I have an option to teach the MAT students at TIME and carry on with my CAT preps.what is better?do this small job and go for CAT or apply in SCMS? this is URGENT.
@iim lover:What kind of books do you like?I got Jeffrey Archer's False Impression.Its suspense.you may go for it.I can mail it to you if you give me your mail id.

a)377
b)179

@ Zedai,
Do u think sufficient data is provided in the qn?
As per your Qn i can assume A has got 999 sweets and C got 1 sweet(to maximize a+b-c).
If B having 500 sweets then the total number of sweets that A and B having is 1498 numbers more than C...So as per the given data answer is 1498 according to me.:grin:
@ joethaliath
Ya we got to find out a+b-c
ya.. i also proceeded with the same approach.. in that case , i feel the answer must be d) ... or insufficient data...

@ asha,
Whichever college u are choosing, your final objective will be to get a reputed job in a reputed firm. As per my knowledge, companies visiting SCMS are not of high quality standards. Since you have the will power to do something that can neutralize your bad past acads, i will personally suggest you to concentrate heavily on your CAT 2012 preps. And the drawbacks u have mentioned which can affect your candidature in a good B school is limited as far as u can provide your own reasons for not taking a job right after your Bachelor degree. U have to be smart in convincing them. Arrears may not be a big issue if u are aiming some colleges ranked from 15- 25. They just look whether u meet their eligibility criteria or not.
