Buying A Laptop

if it has only 512KB Cache ... I would rather ding it .... no matter how much cheap it will get ...

See, cache is one of the most imp. but again most neglected part that should be considered while buying the system ....

More the cache better the system performance, 512KB is way too low .. min. you should look for is 2Mb

The way an AMD processor uses the Cache is different from Intel. I can't tell the exact tech details, but know for sure that Cache is not that imp a number for an AMD processor. Some googling would get you the precise answer but take it from me that a 512KB would serve you very well.
sounds kool...

does it have built in cam and bluetooth...

whats the DV series no.

yep thats what i meant by all the other basic fittings...

its HP PAVILION DV6870...

Guys

I am sort of a newbie in terms of knowledge on laptops.......Just wanted to know the difference between XPS and Inspiron........ Secondly how is Inspiron 1420....in terms of features....

Thanks
Amit

for high end buyers, buddies just check out the new: hp 9704tx. what a config. its 17inch, 2.0ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb hdd.

also, i am comparing it with dell xp1530:- 2.1 ghz, 15.4, 250gb, 3gb ram.

problem is that hp has better after sales than dell and the dell warranty with xps is very very bad. they are just providing a basic warranty, none of the xps premier service. but both are certainly good machines.

Does anyone has any valuable opinion about Sony Vaio...

like VGN-CR23G...14 inches, 1 GB memory, 120 GB hrddisk, Intel core 2 duo processor, window vista home premium..

XPS is premium bran introduced by DELL. Its somewhat new and might give you some hardware issue like every newly introduced laptops... let XPS gain some market before u go for it..
Also since XPS is a premium brand, its somewhat costly... At the price of a XPS yu can get much better 1520 or 1525...

Inspiron 1525 is one of the VFM(ValueForMOney)
It lacks in graphics though... so for gamers you have an option of 1520, which might be a bit bulky but very powerfull beast....

Yeah but if you will go Inspiron and get VFM, you might not get the exclusive looks of a XPS...

Hi :)

In ur quest for good laptops hv a look at this one before you make a final dive. The price performance ratio is just too hot

Infact it roped me away from the Dell XPS 1330 ... I went ..i saw ..and i was almost conquered.

For 35k, the above config is truyl trmemndous.
i would however also ask you to take a look at the new lenovo laptops, especially now that they are giving 3 year warranty.

Hi get_amazed

Well can you tell me which models are you talking abt and the expected price range.
I can dig into the Lenevo site for the best deals :D

3 year warranty sounds great !!!!

Sorry for the interruption,

I would like to know abt the new laptop which is launched by Asus Eee PC 700 series...

I already own a lenovo laptop, I would like to purchase this as my secondary, since it s highly portable and very cheap too...

for the price of 16k, chek out this link for configuration..ASUS Eee PC

So, do u think, is it better deal to buy this laptop?

I saw a Toshiba laptop yesterday @ 'House of Laptop', Pune.
Config :
Intel core 2 duo T7500 2.2 GHz, 4MB cache , 800MHz.
This processor is generally not available in India, in any of the other models. 4 MB cache is really awesome.
1GB RAM
120 GB HDD
15" widescreen

3 yr warranty.

Speakers & graphics are really good. Looks are also quite good. This is what I can remember right now. They are going to send me config on my mail ID, if anyone interested PM me. I will give you detail config.

OOps ! I forgot to mention the price : 55K.

Got my dell today !!
dell 1525 .. as i had mentioned the config is pretty good.. (had mentioned it before) .. still ..
4gb ram, 250hdd, 2.1GHz T8100 .. 3yr cover.. etc etc. 52.5k and Midnight blue color .. and trust me ..
Its worth it !! not only looks but the performance is superb !! I dint know a vista can also work that fast !! 😛 .. all vistas i saw till today used to crawl ! not mine ! 😁

I have a lenovo y 500. Its got great features and has impressed me with its performance. But the keyboard lay out doesnt hold a candle to the lay out of an IBM or a Toshiba.

Its good enough considering its the IBM base. However, I would suggest you go for an IBM. Its reliable and consistent.

However, if you are going for looks I would suggest you look at the toshiba or compaq or sony.

Cheers.

SONY or APPLE if look is what you looks for 😁
