toshiba is a good one....but it is not so famous in India and so its after sales service is not up to the mark.....

since u require it for general purpose...check out VPCEA42EG : E Series : VAIO Laptop & Computer : Sony India

Please suggest some good laptop which is good for gaming and other stuff, regular work and no problems with hardware or heating? Earlier i had plans to get it from US but it didnt work out....i was thinking of lenovo b470 with 2nd gen i5,i gb nvidia geforce,4gb ram,500 gb hdd, finger print reader etc. for $649,roughly about 30000...i know i won't get such a deal in india for 30000 but would want to get the best possible for this price....can increase it to a max of 35000.

Please suggest
People I have a doubt : My budget is 40-42 K for a laptop and I am into Gaming Addicted to the FIFA Series , Into GTA , F1 , Football Manager as Well

I am finding three options One i3 3GB RAM from HP , One with a Similar Configuration From Lenovo , and the Dell Inspiron with an i5 and 4 GB Ram

The problem is that the Dell Laptop has a 1 GB ATI Graphic Card while Lenovo has a 1 GB NVIDIA Card , my Doubt is Should I sacrifice an i5 and an Extra GB of Ram for NVIDIA?

Is there a huge difference in the performance between an NVIDIA card and an ATI One?

Or should i be looking at something elsemy budget is max to max 45

I dunno abt the NVIDIA card's model, but ATI 5650 which DELL is giving supports DirectX 11, which is the highest version supported nowadays. PLUS an i5 and 4GB ram! A sweeetttt monster of a laptop this is(for the price). No matter what the NVIDIA card offers, the i3 and 3 gb ram will pull it down.

One word of advice, if u are gonna join a b-school this year, then considering the rough usage of the laptop, jack up the warranty to 2 yr accidental damage in dell. Ur total cost would be 45-46K, and u already have the budget for it.

They are not giving Radeon 5650 but ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v , is there a major difference between the two?

You can check out DELL Inspiron..but I am sure you won't get all the above specs for 35000. Check out DELL India's website. You can choose the configuration you want and the amount is displayed accordingly.

I would strongly recommend going for a 2nd Gen Core i3 or i5 processor with 3GB(trenikz)/4GB (sanjumg) ram to take care of the no/occasional gaming requirements. For rendering HD/Blu ray movies properly, u'll need the capabilities of either a GPU or a 2nd cen core i processor. But taking the latter without any GPU is good for movies and occasional gaming(gaming ppl shud get 4GB RAM to provide ample space to the game itself), plus it would consume less battery and produce less heat.

For ur budget, I'd say lenovo(37k-up) and HP(40K-up) provide good 2nd gen configs. But, go to the dealers to confirm the models and the price, they aren't quite specified clearly on the website.

P.S. Personally, I'd take HP if I were to go 2nd GEN sans any GPU. Sleeker pieces, and their service is a tad bit better than Lenovo. Will cost abt 2-3K more in the same config, though.

Hmmm...that's a bummer. Still, 550V(which is an older and cheaper model) supports DirectX 10.1, which the new fangled 2nd Gen Core i processor so proudly proclaim to support. And in terms of graphics performance, it would beat the 2nd gen under a cocked hat any day. The deal is not bad, bcoz i5+4GB means that all your tasks, other than gaming that is, will perform extra smoothly. Better than an i3+3GB, no matter what the GPU is. Besides, I don't think that there would be many games which NEED Directx 11 right now. Two years down the line, maybe. But, then all the 2nd Gen processors would be severely handicapped too.

Go for Dell, if there isn't any other issue. Such is my humble advice.

bro, check out the vaio y series from sony or M101z from dell... Both are based on amd fusion technology, and are much better than the traditional atom processor from intel.

Hmmm...ah, well...s**** neutrality, then.

Thing is, DEll gives u accidental damage warranty for the first year. It means, barring theft or external fire, Dell will repair or replace ur laptop, no matter what. U dropped ur laptop from 10th floor, no problem. U dropped a jug of water on ur laptop, no problem!

And, if u pay Rs. 3235, u can extend this cover to the second year. Effectively, this means that unless you lose your laptop, you will have a laptop during ur course duration under all circumstances.

Beat that.

so should i be going to Dell Only ? ignore HP ?

And after this post, I'm outta this thread. Can't really bring myself around to advocate any other company after stating this.

Adios!

I am really confused here... Do you want a comparision between hp and dell as brands or their respective models... As far as I know, dell inspiron 14r comes with a 5650 n d rest as u had said...this along with the accident cover policy makes this one of the best deals around at your budget... Now if you get a better deal with hp, go for it...

I would also request you to enter d details of hp here as it would help other puys as well...
