My College has requirements to use WINDOWS 7 or WINDOWS Vista.
Does anyone have any clue if I can configure either of these on my Macbook and work without any issue?

in ma opinion u r nt gettng a good deal in 47 k dude. In vaio its core 2 procesr. Nd in hp also cnfigrtn is vry lw as cmpard to price u r going to spnt on it.

If you are a hard core gamer like me, just check this link.. If your range is 40k i dont think you will get a good gaming laptop.. i bought HP dv6-2020AX for 46k.. its very good for gaming..

cud somebody tell me whats the deal with the excise duty charged by dell, when the sales rep sends the quotation?my final figure is coming to 35669 but then they added 3200 as excise duty,is this the case wid everybody?

I have only one thing to say... dont buy tata photon.. though i haven't used it yet but i have used their broadband... its not good.. go for reliance net connect.. my friend is using it.. its ok..

Has anyone purchased through EPP ?
I am facing some issues and needed some thoughts on the same :
I am planning to purchase the laptop through one of my friends in Dell and geting around 12% discount but :
1) The laptop will be in name of my friend .Will that be a problem in case when i go for servicing and all ? (though the bill and all will be with me )
2) Also my college(GIM) demands Original OS Bill in the person's name ,so i think that may create a problem .However,I talked to Sales guy and he mentioned that they don't provide any CD or so for OS,there is a dump(similar to an executable file ) on the system which installs the OS in the system.So there won't be anything like OS in a person's name even if i purchase through normal online booking .
Please suggest on the OS original Bill and also if you foresee any other issues in going through EPP .

but i am a bit confused on 512 MB and 1 GB graphics card.
Can anyone state the advantages of 1GB over 512MB graphic card.
I play FIFA and NFS mostly not a harcore gamer,so will i need a 1GB card. ??

You can change the name & address of the owner via the Dell website's support page here.
AFA the ownership of the OS is concerned, people who have received their lappies will be in a better position to help you on whether a bill for the same has been provided.

For FIFA 512 is enough but for the latest NFS games 512 will create problems on full graphic settings....but will work smooth for medium graphics...

Dude evn i'm purchasing thru epp..nothing to worry..just do the ownership transfer online on dell website..after ownership transfer just get a letter from ur dell friend stating that u've purchased for the same amount..Produce the ownership transfer copy,laptop purchase letter(fro ur dell friend) and the original bill which u get on ur friend's name..this shud solve ur prob..
Guys I received my Office Home and Student 2007 edition today, the package says Win32.
I have ordered for a Dell Laptop which comes with a 64 bit Win 7 edition, was just wondering if the Office software will work on the lappy?
Can anyone please tell me the main disadvantages that VAIO has as compared to Dell?

Regarding 512 MB VS 1 GB graphics card, you need a 1 GB graphics for running games on high/ultra-high resolutions. In most cases, the 1GB VRAM is particularly used for full HD screens or 19-20 inch monitors. Games like CRYSIS, NFS Shift, and GTA 4 wont work on 512/1GB anyway as ATI 5470 is not good enough for them (they may run on low/medium resolutions for 1GB). For all these you need a better card altogether ideally an ATI 5650 is good enough.
But other games like FIFA, QUAKE, WARCRAFT DOTA, COUNTERSTRIKE, AOM, NFS (other than SHIFT) etc. would do fine on the 512 MB VRAM of ATI Radeon 5470. Not sure of high/max resolution for FIFA'10 but should do fine for medium reso.
Most people end up paying more for the extra video RAM and boast about it but they never utilize it! So don't pay for the amount of VRAM that you will not actually use. The graphics card ATI HD 5470, with 512 MB VRAM is the best for soft and medium gamers. Hard-core gamers would require a better card altogether.

Dell offers an option for a 9 cell battery upgrade, also it provides the option of purchasing full accidental cover.
Also, dell offers on-site warranty whereas you will have to take your VAIO to the service centre

you haven't made a mention of the warranty option that you're gonna opt for, looks like a fair deal otherwise.
