Ask SIBM Pune: Official Admissions Query thread featuring SIBM's Prof Pranab Deb

Hello sir one more query from my side

Is there any break up of kind of questions that is asked in GK? for example 10 from politics,10 from economy something like that also though the exam is not yet held can you tell me, based on previous years performance, what would be a good score in GK?

There's no such breakup, bt then generally they've around 5-6 questions from Current news! Around 2 weeks from the test! Then a few on tag lines, CEO's etc etc. Then some abbreviations, general stuff!

Hi Sir,

will the Hyderabad campus be ready by next year !!!!!

why is "Admissions@SIBM" not answering to our queries???

Please note that Prof. Deb is out of town for the Coffee With SIBM event. He'll be back soon. I shall see if someone else from the Admissions office is able to answer the queries.

I request you to be patient for a couple more days.

Hello sir,

My X score is 84%
My XII score is 84%
I did my B.com (with computer application) and my score is 89%

I have taken part in table tennis, volleyball and other sports in district and division level, I have captained my school sports team, I have been a part of organizing committee in various events. I dont have any work experience though but I am looking after my dad's business in Chennai. Can you please comment on this profile? Do I stand a good chance or just an average chance?

Also with SNAP changing to sectional cut offs this time what you think will be a decent number of attempts in each section?

Mudhasir

Did SNAP had same weightage for reasoning questions in the previous years paper too? Also I havent bought SIBM prospectous thought of buying it after writing the exam so can you please tell me do we have to apply separately for different programs in SIBM? Also how good is MBA Marcom and how is the placement records for that program?

along with the SIBM form, theyve asked us to send the SNAP registration form as well...what exactly is the snap registration form?
Is it the SNAP payment advice form?

can i knw whts the previous year cut off for reserved category...as in sc/st

Sir I wanna know that the total marks one should score to clear the cutoffs of SIBM and related colleges of symbiosis and particularly in the GK section

For info of all MBA aspirants. Cutoff is NOT something that can be decided when one sets the paper! It is a relative point which can only be decided AFTER the test based on the test papers' toughness and the level upto which the candidates have performed! So right now ur sole aim should be to score as high as possible in the test and just hope that you did better than the majority of the people who wrote coz that's what improves ur chance of a call and lets u clear the cutoff!

Even if someone tells u about the cutoff based on last year's papers, don't panic if u can't make it to the cutoff. THis was quite clear in last year's IIFT paper! Many people expected it to be a cakewalk like each year. Bt then IIFT had a surprise in store and the paper structure changed dramatically! So just make sure that you are ready to face any challenge the paper setters throw at you and nothing can make u more ready than preparing for the worst!

Always believe in the adage "Prepare for the worst, expect for the best"

sir
am really grateful to you for your magnanimous efforts..

Hi guys...

I filled the online application and paid using my credit card... SNAPTest.org confirmed the PAYMENT AUTHENTICATION via e-mail.

Now all I do is to sit and wait until 5th Decemeber, right?

Oh, I gotta study too... Yea? :P

But, that's all the procedure is until 5th Dec., right?

Does SIBM have a separate campus for itself??? Does it have a separate hostel for the outstation students??? Is it fully residential???

or is it inside the SIU campus????

sir i have a good profile with 80% marks throughout ....what i want to ask is that is it offical that sibm will go for sectional cuttoffs?......if yes then what do you think would have been the last year cutoffs ?

Hi,
It is official that SIBM will go in for sectional cutoffs this year. This is the first time we are introducing it.

Regards,
Pranab.

Hi Sapna,
Your acads look good. We at SIBM do not have any discrimination between experienced and inexperienced candidates as far as SNAP goes. But having said that experienced candidates with more than 18 months experience get some additional marks in GD/PI.

Pranab.
