Ask SIBM Pune: Official Admissions Query thread featuring SIBM's Prof Pranab Deb

This is a student who joined diploma couse under TEB(Gujarat).

As you might not be aware that TEB admits candidates in Oct/Dec and a regular student can expect to pass out in Jan.

Now on paper the student completed his 12th in May(Result) 2001(Suppose)

Joined Diploma in Oct 2001. (Due to lenghty admission procedure)

Completed Diploma in Jan 2003(No backlogs)

He/She may get admission only in July/Aug 2003.

Completes Graduation by July 2006(No backlogs)

Is he/she eligible for admission. Not to mention 17 months experience till 31/12/07

Also a student completing his/her graduation in 9 instead of 8 semesters(Engineering)

Is he/she eligible?

Sorry if my query is an repeated one

Can I know what was the cutoff last year?

Is the cutoff being made sectional wise is an official announcement or still under consideration?

What makes SIBM pune and Bangalore different from each other? If I get a call from both which you think is the better choice?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I want to appear for the snap test in Dec 2007. As it is not clearly mentioned on the website if students currently in their final year can apply or not, I would like to enquire about the same. I am currently in my final year of graduation. My final year exams shall finish by April 2008 and result shall be out by July 2008. The website says only graduates are eligible and session commences in June 2008. Kindly let me know if I am eligible for admission for SIBM for the batch commencing in 2008.

Thanks

Probably those Puys studyin there can explain the query much better:satisfie:

Hi sir,

I have obtained the prospectus in which we have a preference form which asks for preference for GD-PI.
Will ppl who have specified preference for Pune not be called for bangalore's process?
Incase i want to apply for both will i have any say in whether i want pune or Bangalore?

It was 83.75 marks in SNAP! Kindly read the previous posts, before asking any queries! Even though the puys are always willing to answer queries, some may find it difficult to answer same thing 10 times! 😃

:wow:It is indeed wonderful to see SIBM come out with an innovative concept like Coffee with SIBM to meet the aspirants. Wonder if there are any plans to taste Mumbai coffee?:grab:

Hi Nimisha,
Don't get confused about any thing, you have to take your decision based on hard data. You can meet us during coffee with SIBM in your city (Delhi). I will let you know about the exact dates by 2mrw. Best of luck.

Regards,
Pranab.

Hi i have got a query !

I completed my bachelors (full time) in june 2005 whereas i was supposed to complete my degree in june 2004. The problem was i got jaundice so had to clear my back logs in the next year.So obviously i didnt clear the exams in one sitting rite.So plz clarify if i should refrain myself from applying to the instituteHowever my break is after final year.

And morever i have a gap year after that too.

cheers
shyam

First of all I need to thank you for taking time off your busy schedule to answer our queries. It might be especially irritating for you to have puys ask the same question again and again (including me for that matter), but I haven't seen a single message of yours which betrays any frustration, so hats off to your patience.

I went through your earlier posts about eligibility with respect to completion of graduation in one sitting and I would like to clarify my eligibility for SIBM.

I took Five years to complete my engineering which is normally of 4-year duration. However my break is between my second and third year, that is, I have passed my graduation exam (final year) in one sitting with 57.8%. I would like to reiterate that I have experience of more than 1 year as of now in sales, where I was managing a team of 7 people coupled with very good extra-curricular activities. So will the one blemish make me ineligible, or the fact that I have passed the qualifying exam in one sitting help me get considered?

Anxiously awaiting your Reply.??:

Could you please clarify what does ' As far as cutoffs go in GK, it is pretty drastic 😃 (you are IN or OUT).' mean ( or explain in different words or with an example?)

It might look clear but minds which are frozen due to shivering cerebral definitely require a lot of explanation.

Hi Jaskiran,
I thank you for your interest in SIBM. Most of your queries is answered in our prospectus under the 'Selection Procedure'. There are weightages given for good academic performance. As far as cutoffs go in GK, it is pretty drastic 😃 (you are IN or OUT).

Regards,
Pranab.

U don't get the paper after the exam. They take it back! The only way to get an idea abt the paper is to get them from institutes like IMS, TIME etc
