I want to pursue Msc in Management/Msc in International Business from one of the top universities in Europe. Due to financial constraints, I cannot get a loan for more than 7.5 lakhs. I have some personal savings and willing to work part time during my stay in Europe.
Do you people have any idea in which of the universities, getting a scholarship is easy? I would just need a tuition fee waiver or at least 50% tuition fee waiver.
Profile:
10th- 91%
12th- 86%
B.Tech- 78% (1st class with distinction)
WE- Currently over 1 year but would complete 2 years WE before the program begins.
EC- Average.
Kindly advise.
Question seems very generic , can you specify the following
- have u taken GMAT or the required standardized test already ?
- it seems contradictory that " you wish to study in a top notch Univ , but you prefer a UNIV which would give you 50% scholarship ......" both happening at the same time may be difficult
- yr living costs in a foreign land would be very high ......what is yr apprehension in getting admitted to a good Indian Bschool ?

I apologise in posting in a thread meant for Consultants .....my mistake ..
@masters_shock I do not know much about studying abroad ,so I would say , probably u know the best on what path to take .....however from what I have been reading about Western World ......if I were in yr place probably I would wait for a year or 2 , continue the job and as and when see the signs of stability coming in I would jump in the fray .....why ? because yr loan component bothers me .......assuming that you get covered by scholarship , it would be a great thing to go ahead and do it but chances seem bleak because of a general slowdown .......places like UK are already putting up a lot of constraints on students , so its getting a bit difficult .........Also IMHO the best way to utilize an MBA is by getting a good work ex , so a work ex of 1+ year seems a little too less for me .....my personal opinion though :)
1) Can i get a good B school if i secure good score in GMAT as my profile is extremely poor??
2) I have an average work profile in my work place since it is a nationalize semi govt. sector ,it has got very little extraordinary opportunity.
3) Can you advise something about Canada MBA as per my profile..?? Can i get good B School in Canada without GMAT?
Sharing my profile once again for your reference..
10th-81%
12th-52%
B.E-52%
Work Ex- 29 months as IT analyst in leading nationalized bank..
1. A good GMAT alone will not get you admission - b-schools look at complete profiles of applicants. However this does not mean that you do not need a good GMAT score. & maybe you are underestimating your profile.
2. Mostly people who do extraordinary work carve out an opportunity for themselves. IF not at work then outside- as part of volunteering. Maybe you should work another year - look out for these opportunities and apply next year as a stronger applicant.
3. I don't know Canadian b-schools that don't require a GMAT off-hand, so you will have to do that research yourself.
huge participation in the family business since childhood(managed Jewellery outlets,Cinema theatres, hotel). which I personally feel as my greatest strength.
I'm planning to retake the test in november as i'm sure 570 is not what i deserve! Looking to join business schools(US/canada) which will enhance my overall managerial qualities .... but i'm worried that i haven't applied in the first round.... is that something that I really have to worry about....?? I'm planning to join my family business eventually after MBA (max 1year work abroad if situation permits)
So bottomline.... is it okay if I apply now and mention the schools that i'm shortly taking the GMAT again to improve my score? or wait for my second GMAT scorereport(not before december 1st) and then apply ... please help!! will be glad if you could suggest some universities too!
I would like to get my profile evaluated for ISB and XLRI 1year MBA.
Male, 26, Indian
GMAT:690 (48,35)
Class 10: 90% CBSE
Class 12: 81% CBSE
B Tech: 9.2 Electrical, not so good college but university topper among 45 engineering colleges in West bengal.
Work EXp: 4 years as Jr. Mgr. in Steel Authority of India Ltd. (a PSU)
Looking after operations in a production facility and general management. Handling a team of 50 electricians. Looking after addition modification and replacement projects. Procurement planning, tendering, IR trouble negotiations etc.
Extra Curricular:
Am an active quizzard. Participated in many quizzes through my school and college days winning quite a few. Concentrated on business quizzing after joining my company. Was company champion for three years. Did some good job at Tata Crucible (a podium finish at regional level). Did some debating also. Public speaker, doing a lot of public speaking at my company.
Did some serious CSR activities with my company. Looking after upliftment and development of villages near my plant site. No service with any NGO.
Interests: Apart from the usual ones, I like driving on four wheels in hilly terrain. Completed a expedition to Hills of N Bengal and Sikkim traveling a total of 5000kms.
Please evaluate my profile for ISB. Should I seriously start preparing essays and recos for ISB. Is 690 enough? Should I re-take GMAT and invest time in that instead. But I sincerely feel that I will be able to add at max 20 points in my next attempt. Nothing more than that. If not ISB, then should I consider XLRI GMP, SP Jain 1 year or the IIM 1 year.
It may not be the right place to ask this question, but While updating my profile on mba.com I came across a section where I have to fill my GPA on scale of 4. Now the problem is that there was a percentage system in my college during under graduation. I got 66% and when I match up this to the table provided on mba.com I get GPA of 1.6 out of 4, I am not able to digest this. I know it is pretty average of getting 66% but still it is 1st class degree in India and when I convert I get GPA of 1.6 i.e 'lowest passing grade'. Please clear my doubt as I sense I am doing something wrong while calculating.
Don't convert, don't put anything. That section is optional and is used for marketing purposes. Colleges don't look at what you fill out on mba.com but at what you fill out on their individual applications.

Hi, You would need to check with the b-schools where you are applying if they will consider your application for an earlier round without the improved GMAT score. Most of the times an application is considered complete only when all its components have been submitted.
In my opinion, it is safe to apply to a b-school in the later rounds permissible for international applicants if you have better chances of putting together a stronger application. So work upon making it the best rather than making it quick.
My Questions: Considering that I'll pursue MBA in IT/Technology as a major/specialization.1. Does Product Manager job in IT/Technology company like Microsoft ask for pre-MBA experience in IT sector? If yes, how much? How'll be my 4 year experience in PSU evaluated?2. Is becoming a Technology/IT consultant after MBA and gaining 2-4 year experience before becoming Product Manager a right track? Considering the fact that most students in ISB get Consultant job, only few of them get Product Manager profile.3. I am about to launch a small e-commerce/online startup just after my B.Tech. If I enhance my programming/IT/e-commerce skills parallel with my PSU job, will I have a chance to get Product Manager profile right after MBA considering these part-time extra curricular experience?I have tried my best to write as accurate as possible. Please reply.Best Regards
I think at this time you need to think with flexibility about what you will do 5-6 years later. AT that time you may not feel the need to do an MBA at all or may not want to get into product management, but be more in line with what you are doing at that time.
To answer your questions: A product manger role would require that you own your line of product end to end. Whether you are working in IT or manufacturing should not matter, so long as you have built a skill base that will facilitate your shift to this role.
2. Different companies would require different experiences for a product manager role. Talk to your target companies to understand their requirements.
3. Go ahead with the e-commerce if that's your interest. I can not think of why you would want to get into it because of the reasons you have mentioned above.

I have done btech in mechanical with a good cgpa of 9.4 out of 10 and i also have high grades in 12th. I have a total work exp of 16 months with 8 months in data analytics and consulting for retail sector. I want to pursue higher education in same field.
I am confused if should i opt for ms in analytics especially from ncsu or northwestern us
or am mba in marketing for which i have shortlisted nus, sp jain singapore, mbs australia(last option as fees is very high).
I want to do my higher studies from singapore or australia but for ms in analytics i couldnt find any good colleges in these countries.
Could you please suggest which course is best and if ms in analytics is good then is us a good destination. I want to complete my education and then work for 2-3 years in that country itself and then return back to india.
