Ask a Consultant! - GMAT/GRE Only

Hey guys,
I am a Bits Pilani-Dubai graduate working in Dubai for the past 1 Year. I have strong aspirations to do my MBA in India. I have planned to apply for top Bschools in India under NRI category, meaning ill be applying with my GMAT score and not CAT. Now, some of my friends say that one of the criteria to qualify as an NRI for these B schools is "One should not be in India during the CAT exams", just wanted to know if thats true, as i have my sisters wedding during October and will have to come to India during CAT 2013. I do qualify as an NRI based on the criteria listed under college websites, however i don't want to take any risk. Appreciate any help or information regarding the same. Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hello Experts... Is it advisable to send my application for jan intake now for Schulich, Canada considering that the international deadline is 1st sep and if i am not mistaken, about half of the batch might already be full. Plz also comment about scholarship oppurtunities. My gmat-680 , 10th-80% ,12th-80% , B Tech - 67 %, decent extra - curriculars, 3 yr work ex in Indian IT MNC, helped create a consulting start-up but wasnt a part of its working, made the business strategy . i have to retake gmat aiming 700 + and would submit my complete application by 10 th july. please suggest.

Hi,

I wish to do an MBA from India. I tried considering options of CAT over GMAT and decided to take the GMAT in a short span of time. I did come across a lot of colleges that accept GMAT scores and 5 years of experience that included IIMs. Can you please help me with top colleges other than ISB that accept GMAT scores with a work experience of 3 years?

Thanks

Hi,

You have enough time for applying to Canadian or US b-schools. Would advise you to achieve better GMAT and then apply in good US b-school(s).

Hi guys,

My mini profile is like this-

GMAT: 710

Btech: IIT 7.463

Work Ex 3 yrs

EC and leadership: average :/

(I can elaborate more on work ex in the application as it is good and relevant to my future career)

I really want to go to colleges like Duke, Tuck , Ross etc. i.e within top 15-30 colleges.

Can Someone tell me that that with this profile can I make it to these colleges? I know they are kind of long shot for me, but one of the seniors (Sowmya) tells here , in her MBA series, that any score above 700, and a good application and interview is all that is needed to make it to top 15 colleges (she made it to Duke). And I am not even targeting top 15 ones, just the top 20-30 ones.

Hi Anand,

A good application means to showcase: leadership style (potential as a leader), achievements in or outside work place, professionalism, maturity and ability to work with others. You have good GMAT score and an avg, CGPA from one of the best institutes in India. If you are able to highlight the above pointers in your application essays and interviews then you would stand a good chance in top 20 or 30 FT ranking b-school(s).

Let me hear in case of further queries. You may PM your details.

Regards

Erina

GMAT - 650

Q - 44

V - 35

I certainly expected more from myself, having scored more than 40 in Verbal in all the Manhattan Mock tests. I took too much pressure on myself during the last 4-5 questions in each sections and ruined them I feel. I can blame the office pressure and the lack of preparation time I got but in the end I knew what I was stepping into and I am the only one to be blamed for it. I would certainly not think twice about giving GMAT again if I think it is necessary to get into a good college this year. I trust myself enough to get at least 710 next time.

I till date have a 2.8 work exp as an Engineer at Ericsson, which is world's no.1 telecom company. I am pretty good at my work. I have won 3-4 awards and I was selected among 5 different Ericsson offices around the world to give an on-site training to one of our clients.

At school level, I got 81% in my 10th grade and 77% in my 12th grade and I got 66% in my graduation.

I am a part of a football related NGO, for which I am an event-organizer as well as I write articles for them on various international platforms. This NGO is pretty big and they represent INDIA at the Homeless World Cup which is a FIFA event. My other articles, on football, unrelated to this NGO are also published on a few websites.

Can you please please guide me on how good/bad my chances are to apply for an MBA in any top-25 universities on the globe?

PS - I also represented my school at National level in shot-put event twice but being an idiot that I am, I lost my certificates for that, I do have the medals I won though.

I have scored 238 marks in cmat, my university rank is 651, state 946 and national is 1035. Which college should i apply to in 1st cap round?? what are my chances of getting a good college. Please advice.

I need advise and suggestions for pursuing Executive MBA. I have total 9 years of experience in IT, last company being Infosys. I have done B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with 74.2%. I'm currently residing in Noida.

Hi!

I am applying to the ISB YLP, and am currently writing the essays. The 3rd essay question is 'Please provide additional information, that could affect the consideration of your application to the ISB.'
What exactly are they looking for in this essay? Could I be writing what I consider to be weaknesses in my application profile?

All inputs are welcome.

Thanks.
