Contrary, I think thatz a Cool ad :-D Man we need some creative minds like that. Also, there is this other ad on the same line for some underwear-"Banian" where is guy who is singer throws his undergarment and then audience is stunned.. That one is also hilarious and great one.

What is evyones view on Mountain dew's act on thumsup?
Pepsi and Coke have always being rivals and I dont think so this is something new. They have always been pulling each others leg in most of their ads. (Remember Pepsi ad where this kid uses this coke tin to reach the pepsi option at vending machine!!) In fact it is only the "pulling each other leg" stunts that keeps most of their ads lively and enjoyable. I dont know abt other's view but I enjoyed that ad.
Recently saw one ad of Dabur.. Amitabh and Cyrus(M-TV fame).. Nothin in the ad as such..just time pass...puttin stars..no sense.. Hope Dabur Guys r listenin
wat do u do wen u see a good ad ??? i dont think we go and buy the advertised thing wen we see a good ad....same with bad ads too...i dont think maruti ads are that much good.....yet maruti is best selling car in small car segment...same with MDH those ads sux but product sells....
The Pepsi, Coke battle in India has been just about ok. The high point was when Coke (i think) released the nothing official about it campaign during the world cup.
However, globally the war is also more inventive. eg. There is an ad where the camera shows a big pepsi delivery truck. Slowly, the camera pans left and they show the driver drinking Coke !
Nothing beats the "hamari Centra" ad in terms of being irritating. It is the most irritating thing on TV. The child sux, his dad sux and the concept of the ad is pathetic. Compare it with the maruti ad "kya karun daddy petrol khatam hi nahin honda". Similar message but told in a much better way.

Well you are right in a way. But think of it this way.. had maruti not publisized its loan scheme most people ould not have been aware of it. And it is this awareness about the loan which made many people decide to buy a car and hence a maruti. Another case in point are pepsi and coke. A lot of the non-adult market is driven by ads in this segment. Often we see children wanting to drink one particular product just because a hero or heroine has acted in its ad. The "Thanda"campaign by Amir Khan being a case in point.
no doubt that those ads suck, but i feel that what we also have to take into consideration is the fact that whether the targeted audience would appreciate it or not..
Take the case of IBP red lubricant where the truck driver is shown giving the analogy to a partially full lassi glass and more engine life, it was certainly a hopeless ad., but if it goes down well with the Truck driver Suraj community, then i must say that the adv. solved its purpose and i appreciate it.. Same is the case with Ujala washing powder. 4 boondo waala jingle sucked, but hey even i remember it, and there is some brand recall now..
cheers, shalin..
Dear pal,
if thats the crux of the theme all the time,
Can anyone explain me in plain-vanila language the existence of
"mommy me ek din isi ghar me shadi karungi" ad??
Dunno much which Paint ad is it...but real time sucker...!!

well, nobody does that gerat act
Ad is always meant at creating an imperssion in ur subconcious mind...thats why co. doesnt change the logo, the color or hardly ever change the punchline!!
so, wen u see that Lion and orange color - ING Vysya strikes in ur mind. That is the reason why Logo, Furniture, Brochure and Ad all are designed in the same color for any co.
If you say "chalo thanda pite hai" and u cant resist recalling "thanda matalab coca-cola"....then u may go for Pepsi but, at least, u recall the brand!!
remember "jagao jagao, Nescafe pilao"...how often do u use to comment on a moodless person...thats how the brand is build (needless to say quality first.)
hey enuf...m not from any ad world ab bolunga to bologe ki bolta hai...isliye ab kuchh nahi bolunga:)
i think all the mountain dew ad's suck....the guys endorsing the ad's look like a bunch of 24yr ols whove jus realised they can p**..... complete wannabe's.............

the time when these two companies were rediculing each others ads was pretty bad for the ad industry (in terms of creativity) as well as the audience. it was rightly discussed on NDTV Profit (Money Mantra) that r the ad agencies in India creative enough? (not talking abt the ads that r meant for Cannes etc........talking of commercials shown regularly on TV).
