[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@dear123 I would never put IMT in that league!!!
@NRoddik You can also consider applying to IMI, KJSOM, BIM T

At 89.55 percentile, is there any chance at IMI PGDM? @ajaygovindg

Chances look bleak. Since they have reopened applications after results, there are so many who have got unexpected high scores applying to institutes like IMI, IMT, KJSOM and that's one of the reasons why their cutoff has remained 90+ when everywhere around cutoff's are falling for others with deadline before CAT results!!
@ajaygovindg Is it worth for someone with 96 percentile to go there?
@ajaygovindg Heh! These institutes have got a good new way to fill up their bank accounts.

Worth/Good/Bad - Yes maybe for me. But what guarantee is there its the same for you? I hope you're not my long lost twin brother/sister with exactly the same background and expectations from MBA (even for twins it may not be same)!! :mg:

So always recommended to decide for yourself whether its worth it. Collect as much facts, information as you can (other than placements & average/median/maximum/minimum salaries) and then depending on your expectations from MBA take a call!! :)
do we have a second list for iim's for gd/pi??

@mouna1790 CMAT forms are out? If yes, then can this be filled online? Do CAT scores play any role in the admission process?
well sadly..cmat registrations are closed 13th jan was the last date...as far maharastra is concerned evn if u r applying through CAT u need to register ofr CMAT...although this procedure is only for MMS admissions which is conducted by DTE...for PGDM, u can apply directly to respective clgs

Yep! Revenue/Profits for them and loss for people like us! But then what can you/me/anyone do about it? Private institutes always run things their own way and of course their objective will always be profit-making!! I don't think any of them are altruistic enough to reduce fees (application/course)!! :mg:
@ajaygovindg Reduce fees? Bleh! Just thinking logically, how come the cost of applying to an institute ONLINE is Rs 2000 or more? (I think it was Rs 3300 at FORE No offence bro, really). Makes absolutely no sense. It's not even like I'm buying a John Players shirt at Rs 700 instead of a Park Avenue at Rs 2000. These institutes can't even claim it on the basis of their brand-name.

Hi, @ajaygovindg , I have a query which may be out of scope of popular entrance exams like CAT/XAT etc. What's your view about SOIL, gurgaon? Should I seriously consider it. I have more than 4.5 years of experience in IT. I want to do 1 year MBA. I also got 93 percentile in XAT 2013. I can also apply to GLIM, chennai and gurgaon. I think going by the figures and curriculum I am finding SOIL better and promising in future. Placement figures are also at par with most of the TOP Bschools with avg salary of 10L+. What's your opinion on this? Should I seriously consider SOIL? Thanks in Advance and looking forward for your valuable advice.

Good/Bad are subjective. What is good for someone else may not be good for you. So better you search/find information and facts for yourself and decide for yourself if it is good/bad.If it is just placements you're looking at, then any time only top 20 B-Schools are recommended. At other places its a matter of luck (as only very few people, in the whole batch, make it in that 10+ salary bracket) and how you sell yourself.

@ajaygovindg Thanks for the reply, If we leave this one Factor of AICTE approval. Then what would you say? I got an admit from this B school and have to confirm my seat this month by paying a handsome amount. Now with 93 pecentile in XAT, I can also expect a call from GLIM, chennai (AICTE approved) but in that case I'll have to loose this admission offer. Is it a risk worth taking? I am in big dilemma right now.
Dear @ajaygovindg Sir, yesterday you replied to my query, and I asked you another(quoted above). But somehow I think you missed that. I have to take decision soon and with just more than a week left I also have to talk to Banks for the loan. But before taking the right decision I want get advice from wise people like you. Please help me, I just want your opinion on this.

90%tile for IMT Ghz and IMI Delhi. Apply both with this score. People with 90%tile also had admit .
IIT madras had considered sectional cut off last time. Cut off was 94%tile with 88%tiule sectional.
I think you should apply to IIT M and IIT Kanpur.

You can consider applying to IMT and IMI.

If you perform well in GD/PI, you stand chances for converting as well.

For IIT Madras, Sectional Cut Off last Yr was 88. So, going by that, you might just miss it. Nevertheless, you can apply and keep your fingers crossed.. !!

Sharminda mat karo bhai aise terms use karke - "wise"!! aah! :P

I'm sorry I missed your query. Have quite a flurry of tags/PMs and I tend to miss few like this while doing this in between office work. Please bear with me! :)

AFAIK, the institute has decent placements, the organizations who recruit from there approve of it and keep going back (if they get the quality they expect) and so I don't see any harm in joining there. But then that's your decision. I personally would not have applied, because of some of those issues mentioned for not having an AICTE approval. But then if none of those 3-4 points affect you then you can very well consider pursuing the course. No comparisons allowed on this forum, and even otherwise decision between SOIL and Great Lakes, and which is going to be worth it considering your expectations from MBA should be totally yours!!
@missionCAT13 Thanks for prompt response :)
Regarding IMI Delhi, how is it in terms of placements and career prospects?

@mouna1790 So, it means that i cannot apply to JBIMS this year?
@ajaygovindg I also came to know that the although a few placements are very good, but still placements are not 100% at SOIL. Don't know how authentic that is. @saurabh1938
