Guys, sorry for the spam but need some gyaan. I m sorry if i hurt anyone's sentiments!A lot of HR's from my IT company are from symbiosis(now i m not sure if they are all from sibm-p), But i know a few of them who have graduated from symbi and currently working in banks/financial companies for salaries below to what they were getting before MBA.. So question 1 --> Is SIBM P really worth a college joining? Question 2 --> How trustworthy are the placement reports? Question 3 --> If something's bad about the college would the seniors actually come out in the open and discuss it with fellow aspirants.
Seniors Venkatraman and Vaibhav please throw some light, i ll have to plan my travel as irma falls on the same week and not many options for travel between Kolkata and pune
Hi. Operations @ SIBM is relatively new. It was introduced 5 years back. We have experienced permanent faculty and an excellent back up of visiting faculties from various industries. The course structure is pretty comprehensive and we have a special 6-sigma certification course that is done in the college itself. Other than this if you have any other query you can PM me.

Hi!I will try to answer all the questions that you have asked, but if you require any further clarification, please PM me. So here goes:
1. As a student of SIBM Pune, I would definitely say that it is a college worth joining. The brand of SIBM Pune often gets confused with the brand of Symbiosis International University (which has several management institutes under it), and therefore every time you hear someone say, they did an MBA from Symbiosis, or even SIBM (because now there is one in Bangalore as well) do not immediately associate the results to that of SIBM Pune's. My friend Venkataraman gave some great insights into how you go about selecting a B-School at the beginnning of the thread, which I suggest you go through. Needless to say, SIBM-Pune scores pretty highly on all those relevant points. We don't encourage open comparisons on Pagalguy, but I would also like to point out that we have been consistently making it within the top-15 or AAA rated colleges, and one doesn't manage to do that with nothing.
2. The placement reports are HUNDRED PERCENT TRUSTWORTHY. Reports are constantly monitored by regulatory bodies like AICTE, and lying in the reports is highly unethical, and risky. This entire issue of the trustworthiness of the placement reports emerges from the statistical inadequacies in the report which get sensationalized on fora like PG with questions like these. It is true that an average salary gets affected by extremes, and therefore might not give you the best picture of an individual's salary, but there is no perfect statistical measure. A median, for example, doesn't let you know the distribution of salaries. These shortcomings of statistical measures don't mean we report lies.
3. No senior would ever lie to aspirants about any problems. A few comments back, for example, Vaibhav admitted that the Operations specialization at SIBM Pune is relatively new. At the same time, I would like to urge you guys to maintain some calm and patience about this. This is a pretty tense phase in anyone's life and the negative sentiment towards everything multiplies too fast, regardless of whether the news is authentic or not. Whenever you ask us doubts, we WILL give you the fullest possible picture, please don't worry about the same. But at the same time, don't take rumors and incomplete information for granted, and make decisions on the basis of that. You will end up doing nothing but spreading unnecessary panic.

Thank you Dhvanil. Sorry for being too skeptical, but every aspirant is really tensed with his/her future!
PLEASE SOMEONE COMPARE SIBM PUNE WITH IMT GHAZIABAD.BUSINESS INDIA MAGAZINE SAYS BOTH HAVE NEARLY SIMILAR CAMPUS PLACEMENT REMUNERATIONS. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THAT BATCH SIZE OF IMT G IS MORE THAN SIBM P.and i don't want that same PAKAO line "comparing of collgs. is not aloowed". Students should have access to all parameters which make some colleges precede other colleges.
You already have access to all parameters actually. You are asking us to make a decision for you, which is truly 'PAKAO'. What exactly is it that you want in terms of comparison? How can an SIBM Pune senior tell you what goes on in IMT-G without ever having been there (I assume we get the authority of answering such queries because we are here in the college, right?). It is for these reasons that we don't compare colleges. It's unethical, we don't have complete information, and we can't honestly make judgements about other colleges based on this incomplete information. We tell you what SIBM-Pune has to offer, and the seniors at IMT-G will tell you what their college can offer. The various magazines, prep centers and surveys give you their call on what both these colleges offer. Those ARE the parameters. Now it's up to you to weigh each one of them and decide what is more important/beneficial to you.
