I just located this forum and haven't gone thru all the posts here...so, pardon me if my questions get repetitive. I will be appearing for TISS-2013 for MA in media and cultural studies. Kindly guide in below queries:

1) I need to know the pattern- of the common exam for all subjects ( 100 marks)- what are the sections?

Could you pls send me a few sample papers for " marks" ? Do send me solved ones if possible to [email protected].

2) In part-II, there are some long type questions which are subject specific(in my case; would be media and cultural studies)....as you mentioned a change in pattern before...so have questions in these sections been chaneged to objective pattern.... Any study matterial available? Please guide.

3) I know that TISS is highly recommended for HR programs, but could you tell me what is placement help/scope they provide after my program? Pls care to elaborate a bit as I don't know much about T ISS in terms of employment scope...

PLease reply soon as I need to start preparing ASAP. If u cud pls answer QUES 1.... and send me the solved papers really fast. It will help me prepare... JUST 1 MONTH to go....

CET 2013 will consist of questions on the following areas: Social Sensitivity and Knowledge of Contemporary Issues
Questions on these areas will assess candidates' sensitivity to social issues and their knowledge of contemporary developments. Besides awareness of current issues, it will also assess candidates' knowledge of social inequalities and problems facing marginal groups of the society - both local and global. The questions would thus cover a range of areas -- economy, politics, ecology, history, geography, and will include contemporary themes that affect the vulnerable groups.

Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning
Questions on these areas will test the students' ability to perform basic and intermediate level numerical/mathematical operations, and interpret ratios, percentages, graphs and diagrams. The logical reasoning questions aim to test the ability of the students to think logically and analytically.

English Language Competency
English language competency refers to the ability to understand and reason with concepts framed in words rather than numbers. It also includes verbal reasoning which requires the ability to synthesize information from text passages to answer questions drawn from the same, to analyze and recognize the relationships and patterns of relationships between parts of a sentence and between words and concepts. The test of English Language Competency consists of comprehension, sentence completion, sentence correction, analogies and antonyms.

@somedatta.b to clarify the doubts again, there is no part 2 to the paper this tym.. all the candidates, irrespective of the course selected by them, wl have to sit for a common paper of 100 marks and dat will remain same for all.. so no course specific paper this tym. the common paper is 100 marks objective question paper..

I was referring to this pre-interview test as "part-2" and I thought this was a subject specific exam. Please explain.(any websites or study matterials? sample papers? please send papers to my email-id.)

@shubsamania if ur intention is an equivalent degree to MBA elsewhere then Yes .

But then there are specialised courses like Hospital administration etc but they are too niche courses ..so for a regular MBA aspirant HRM&LR; is the course.......ofcourse if one is interested in entrepreunership there is a course on Social entrepreunership :)

Do the questions repeat from previos year papers?

@IDoRuleAge ...TISS takes papers after the exam , so it is tough to ascertain that . But in general , VA QA and DI are not very tough questions , so no advantage even if they repeat , as they take the same time to solve
Not quite sure of other areas .......But when i prepared for exams i did not come across any repeated questions, but it would be beneficial to explore the online quizzes in the areas as outlined as syllabus ..it helps

Could you please suggest some books to refer for Va,Qa and DI or the typical books for CMAT preparation are enough for TISS? Also, for Social Awareness section, any specific books or suggestions for TISS?

I have applied for the social entreprenuership course.But, this year, as there is just one common question paper for all, I am confused how they will segregate applications for various courses.

@dumb4cat ..Hi Dumbcat , we have more than 21 courses in TISS-Mumbai campus itself and to be honest , we do not know the internal workings of course beyond our school . I suggest you post ur query on "Mission TISS" fb group . There are quite a good no of students across courses in that group .

@IDoRuleAge ...As far as my experience goes, prep books for CMAT should be more than sufficient . TISS is never a tough exam to crack..the real fun lies at the interview stage :P

Regarding other areas like social awareness , this is what i had done ....
Had gone through the topics (we had sociology, business knowledge etc..not seen this year syllabus) and gone through the online quizes on the same topics ..U can try that

@IDoRuleAge we, the students also not in a position to comment . But since they have asked to apply for courses , most probably each course will come with their own shortlist .
